How flexible is your schedule working at HBF?

      HBF reviews

      No shareholders = no accountability

      Digital transformation consultant

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Free corporate gold hospital cover for staff

      Cons

Being a not for profit with no shareholders to report to, senior leadership make poor decisions with zero accountability. These decisions have ultimately lead to project timelines blowing out by years and the employee culture surveys returning a very poor engagement score. There is very little psychological safety and a good example of this was demonstrated by a senior leader who would belittle and argue with staff who opposed the changes to flexible work options. This behaviour was on display for all to see during the monthly all in meetings with 200+ employees and external consultants in attendance. HBF has a gender equality pay gap of 38% with no female CEO in its 80+ years history, There is currently a significant influx of former employees reaching out and seeking new employment online. This has prompted me to write my review and warn others to avoid the toxic culture and poor management.

So much potential… but ultimately frustrating

      Pros

      - My colleagues were always amazing. Made some great friends and got through some tough times together - Flexible working and Provided hospital cover are great - Learned a lot from the deep end learning

      Cons

-Aggressive cost cutting measures (layoffs, budget reductions, entire teams and critical roles being made redundant) have had a huge cost on ability to deliver work and consequently morale. - Huge staff turnover means we’re always scrambling to stay afloat - Many high level decisions seem misinformed and out of touch with the people on the ground. - Overuse of external consultants in favour of empowering and cultivating internal team and building knowledge. - Frequent ( nearly annual) restructures have a massive hit on productivity, morale and have a flow-on effects of resignations, expertise loss which further compounds the problem. - Short term thinking and ‘Corporate amnesia’ constantly changing direction and priorities. Money is spent on something one year, then more money is spent on rolling it back the next. - Many high level decisions seem illogical and made without explanation
