      Amazing place to work

      Store associate
      Former employee
      Valparaiso, IN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Hours Pay Management Discount Time off

      Cons

The only con is that sometimes of the year it can be slow and we get paid hourly and commission so you wont get as much of that extra pay sometimes of the year.

enjoyable, low stress, interesting if you like fitness/nutrition

      Associate
      Former employee
      London, ON
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

opportunity to use my nutrition degree, learnt a lot about supplements, not usually busy. Very easy to earn a lot of commission on top of salary. I really liked the White Oaks store manager and all the higher up managers.

      Cons

I don’t love promoting fat burners or supplements I don’t believe work but that’s a very small % of their products

      Great place

      Store manager
      Current employee
      Philadelphia, PA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Came back after 4 years, welcomed back with open arms. Settled in quickly and set up for success by management. Easy job, with the benefit of working close to home

      Cons

Pay could be a little better for managers, and the health insurance GNC provides leaves a lot to be desired for the premium you pay.

Easy job, very low pay, minimal commission rate

      Sales manager
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Laid back job that gives opportunity for remote work or self-employee business owners. Straight forward responsibilities. Minimal physical labor. Employee discounts

      Cons

Unpredictable work schedule, different hours every week makes life hard to work around. Commission is 1% of all sales, and criteria to get commission is high. Salary is non-competitive. Communication is very poor.

      Decent pay with decent commission

      Store manager
      Former employee
      Irving, TX
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Always get your hours Decent pay with solid commission opportunities

      Cons

Understaffed in most stores making it hard to cover stores.

      Not an Ideal Career Starter.

      Part time sales associate
      Former employee
      Hampton, VA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

~ Pleasent manager and coworkers. ~ Mostly pleasent customers. ~ Strong to the company's values

      Cons

~ You have to be at least 18 years old, which is fine until you realize the pay. ~ Low pay, the contract says we get paid minimum wage. That doesn't even cover rent, unless I worked outside the mandated PT hours. ~ No OT. The company would ask of stuff to be done, but it could only get done if I worked OT, which the company frowns upon. ~Often relieved late and expected to be OK with it. I was told I could take a 20 minute break (basically close the store for 20 minutes) and my relief would reopen it, but the company did not like the store being closed during business hours, so I often was late to my after work job. ~Really pushed over-the-top goals on employees and expected them to do better than the goals. Often resulting in counseling/training when said goals were not met. ~Couldn't change my avalability after working there for over a year. ~ I signed up for medical insurance during the open enrollment period, only to find out my information was lost and I was dropped. ~ I had applied for a corporate position that alligned better with my career path and was told to inform my manager so they can look into it. I hadn't heard about it in months so I asked. Was told the position was likely filled and to find another role, the news was given with a tone like brushing dirt off the shoulder/not my problem. ~ I applied for a another position and the higher ups seem to have been dragging their feet when selecting their canidate. I found out the day after I handed in my 2-week notice that they appointed someone else.

Great Team, Okay Company, Bad Policies

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      Pittsburgh, PA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - My team is very welcoming and helpful - Don't feel judged for needing help, everyone is willing to teach you new things - Growth-focused mindset with strong encourage of positive personal and organizational development - Team enjoys the work that they do - Currently trying to improve morale and culture

      Cons

      - Leadership changes business direction a few times a year and makes goals confusing - Projects are often killed, making time wasted and work done for nothing - Strict on local employees and rewards remote employees (local: does not pay for parking unless on-site more than required, no opportunity to appeal remote status, extremely large "hybrid" radius pulling employees from very far away, have to make up on-site days from vacation to keep average up vs remote: pays for flights to hq, hotels, meals, stipends, complete remote work with no issues and other benefits) - Low pay and bad benefits with no interest in increasing/improving - Small groups that end up being useless for work that is needed - Poor communication between departments

      GNC Response
      now
Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your experience with GNC. I would love to meet with you to discuss your advice to management and some of your comments. With regard to your comment about hybrid vs remote, our radius is 35 miles. That is not extremely large. Most companies have a 50 miles radius. We do pay for parking for those who work onsite 3 days per week (on average). You are right about remote workers who are required to travel in with the exception of the executive team. Any of the executives that travel to the HQ pay for their own travel. You absolutely DO NOT have to "make up" on-site days from vacation to keep your average up. We look at a 3-month average knowing that there will be sick days, vacation days and holidays. Please contact me if you want to discuss: Tracy Notte tracy-notte@gnc-hq.com
