Appreciate you taking the time to leave a review! We’re happy to hear you’re enjoying the culture, office, and lunches. We understand the hybrid schedule isn’t the right fit for everyone and appreciate you sharing that perspective. Thanks for being part of the team!

Uncomfortable Work Environment Due to Leadership Issues

      Customer success manager (csm)
      Current employee
      Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Good office perks like snacks and catered food. Modern office space with nice amenities. Most coworkers are great.

      Cons

A newer CSM people manager in Denver exhibits extremely inappropriate behavior toward women, frequently making them uncomfortable by undressing them with his eyes. Leadership at the director level lacks accountability and awareness, allowing toxic behaviors to exist. Despite positive culture among peers, poor management decisions and lack of oversight create an uncomfortable work environment.

      Sales development representative (sdr)
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

"unlimited" PTO (although grind culture is encouraged), lunch provided 3x a week, snacks, coffee, etc in office

      Cons

Commission is not based on meetings, it is based on "opportunities" that are up to an AE's discretion if they are considered an opportunity or not. Bros help out bros. Those who are favored do much better than those who are not

The company itself is great, but the sales environment is quite tough.

      Commercial account executive
      Current employee
      Tokyo
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The product is excellent, the free lunch is a nice perk, and the office is comfortable. The sales methodology is well-structured, and there are plenty of internal resources and documentation to help you get up to speed.

      Cons

In Japan, there are very few leads from partners or marketing, and reps are constantly competing over accounts. While everyone works hard to hit their targets, the average tenure is short, and the overall sales approach doesn’t feel sustainable or healthy.

      Toxic Culture + Minimal Opportunity

      Commercial account executive
      Former employee
      Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Resume-Builder: Great building block of a career step. Respected company. Great product: The product itself is great, which is the reason there are already so many customers! Rep Culture- They hire great Reps + fun people. Your coworkers will be the ones to get you through the long/rough days Benefits- Great office, snacks, bar tabs paid for, SKO. All the typical nice benefits that come with a Post-IPO successful company

      Cons

Minimal Opportunity- Limited to around 50-80 accounts. These accounts have been BURNED by all the reps that have come before you, and you will not be allowed to source any new ones. Your account list is the Main factor of your success. After multiple years at the company, no inbound help at all. 100% outbound and expected to generate 100% of your own pipeline. Toxic Culture- Leaders don't really do much to help, just expect "Do More + Do Better". Weekly meetings mostly consist of metrics counting (how many emails and calls did you make) combined with how many meetings where set. The leaders essentially use reps as their SDR's and try and run your deals for you. Horrible Leaders: Leaders are all past reps that were selling during the pre-ipo times, where there was a lot of opportunity and accounts were fresh+ less limited. VP of sales uses threats, scare tactics, and more to try and "motivate you". He has the attitude of "if you don't like it here, the door is that way" Poor quota attainment: Quota attainment is typically around 5-10%..... No one hits goals, and the people who do are typically the few who are lucky to get a whale in a sales cycle. Leadership refuses to change goals and expects the reps to just "do better" The ultimate grind, with poor pay, and toxic culture

      Office Politics Overshadow the Positives

      Software engineer
      Former employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Most employees are genuinely nice, smart, and collaborative. People are talented and generally easy to work with. The company offers free catered lunch every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, unlimited snacks and drinks, and vending machines where you can even get chargers, keyboards, and other electronic devices for free. The office is spacious, bright, and has an amazing view. The overall design and multimedia equipment are very new and modern.

      Cons

There are a few people on the team who pretend to be supportive and offer to help new hires, but actually give misleading guidance. Once you follow their advice and something goes wrong, they completely deny what they said and use that as evidence to attack you. The management chain is very opaque. When false accusations happen, people higher up (including skip-levels) do not verify facts but choose to believe whatever they hear, making baseless assumptions without knowing the situation. Some experienced engineers are arrogant. They leave harsh comments on docs and PRs without understanding the full context, which gives newcomers the illusion that they did something wrong. In reality, it’s a form of gaslighting. When you calmly show evidence and explain your reasoning, they simply refuse to admit their own mistakes out of pride.

      Cons

      - Lack of progression opportunities - Below market comp - "Unlimited PTO" does not exist anymore - not allowed go above 25 day entitlement - Business before people mentality

      AVOID

      Sales engineer
      Current employee
      Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Best product in this market - Solid culture (albeit, force-fed) - Strong C-suite with great product history. Great future for the product and fantastic stock to have, especially with the ESPP benefit. - Office perks are decent (beautiful office real estate, lunch MWF, snacks, top of line espresso machine, etc) - Great opportunity to travel (if you enjoy that for work) - Decent learning opportunity - Good benefits and perks

      Cons

      - Pay is ABYSMAL, well below the market rate - They will do everything in their power to undercut you with title and pay. They are stern and do not negotiate much no matter how relentless you are. Best in class + well respected product so they can get away with this. - Lower level management is inexperienced and will shun your career development requests. High expectations for work and want you to do this for the above stated abysmal pay. - Onboarding is exhaustingly long and frankly does a poor job of preparing you for real-world experiences at the company. - Inexperienced ICs, if you have a background in the industry you will be educating a lot. Definitely fun to teach folks, but very time consuming. - NO company mobility. They like to sell themselves as if they have this. Too many gates until options like this are available, frankly making it near impossible to move around. - Attrition is the worst I have ever experienced at a company. - High demand for knowledge... again with little pay. - Rampant micromanagement with Sales Managers. Baked into culture here on the Sales floor, and it bleeds into adjacent roles. - Expectation to mainline the corporate kool aid. Constructive feedback is seen as an attack for a company that could do no wrongs. - In office expectation is strictly tracked. 3 strikes your out policy. Don't know when you've got a strike til after the month. - Unlimited PTO is a scam, type of company where you hardly take vacation. Also baked into the culture. - Limited collaboration in this role. Reflects culture and bonus pay as a SE. - Not a lot of cross team/org collaboration, things are very silo'd here. - Criticism is reported, not viewed as actionable. - Little to no organization or standards on how work is done. Everyone has their own approach, and limited sharing on vital information. - Did I say horrible pay?

      rep attainment is awful

      Commercial account executive
      Current employee
      Denver, CO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - great snacks in office - hybrid schedule is nice - Datadog is well known in industry - best in class product

      Cons

      - on the rep level, org is not doing well. on org level, org is doing well. org attainment is probably above 100% but median rep attainment is probably 20% - territory is awful. lots of software companies with 5 engineers and 4 of the 5 are in India. truly ran through. - inbound is virtually non-existent - managers keep leaving - rep tenure is awful - very very few promotions upmarket (like 2 reps a year out of a sales floor of 90) - required to be in the office until 5:30pm every day. no flexibility on in-office days
