What is the salary like at Actalent?

      Actalent reviews

Good for new to the workforce

      Technical recruiter
      Current employee
      Saint Louis Park, MN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

You get what you work for. They have a lot of experience in house. The pay is good compared to other companies, but the commission is lower. Leadership at the local office is toxic, but your immediate manager will not be. The culture is very specific to a certain crowd - if you like sports and happy hours, this is the place for you.

      Cons

Upper leadership is toxic and out of touch. The company doesn't care about anyone who hasn't hit contest level (avg $12K for 12 months). The culture is very specific to a certain crowd - if you like sports and happy hours, this is the place for you. Lacks professionalism.

      Great company

      Business outlook

      Pros

Good benefits package, good pay, easy submssion of hours, on-time and regular pay, very organized company

      Cons

Communication is a little distant and not always regular

Decent training program followed by a downhill experience. Appearing busy is more valued than actual productivity.

      Recruiter
      Former employee
      San Diego, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The 13 week training program is fairly rigorous and useful. Some of the people you will work with are great. Hope that you have a great team leaders (like I did), because I heard horror stories about some of the others. Excellent place to be a stepping stone to something else, ideally stepping into something else as quickly as possible.

      Cons

"First one in the office, last one to leave." The type of place that glorifies the person working 60, 70, and 80 hours a week. Even if the numbers they put up matches the person only willing to work 50 hours. The salary portion sounds appealing for an entry level job but the amount of time spent in office combined with the expectation and encouragement of working from home leads to an earning of near minimum wage. The commission structure is designed in such a way that you never really get any legitimate earnings until long after you've closed a deal. Each deal peppers in a small amount to your paycheck over the course of the 12 months. There is a high turn over rate in the office and the benefit of someone leaving is; if they've placed a few people, the company continues to reap the benefits of that contract and hands the placed candidate over to another recruiter (who doesn't take over the commission) for continued care taking. Which generally doesn't happen, because what incentive would the remaining recruiter have to help a candidate they have no earnings on? Beyond the obvious, which is caring for the people your team is representing. But when a recruiter is already being drained of everything they have sustaining their own workload, it makes it nearly impossible. Actalent (Allegis Group) does not care about you. Actalent does not care about their candidates. I honestly don't even know if Actalent cares about their clients. Shortsighted approach to business and the people that thrive here are the embodiment of a stereotypical used car salesman and tend to be of the good ol' boy mentality. Do not work here. But if you do end up working here, start looking for an exit door as soon as you can.

Opportunities are unlimited but you have to be ready to work hard!

      Recruiter
      Current employee
      Fort Lauderdale, FL
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Commission in uncapped, the harder you work the more money you make & the commission is paid weekly so you see your benefits of your hard work pretty quickly, very supportive culture in the Ft Lauderdale office, company invests in people that want to move into leadership roles, up to 5 bonuses a year but you need to hit goals, very generous PTO accrual.

      Cons

It’s hard at first to see the financial reward if you don’t see success quickly, commission structure can be a little better, hybrid model could improve work life balance. Overall - a great place to work if you’re ready to grind! You have to opportunity to make ALOT of money.

      Employee Centric Company

      Account manager
      Current employee
      Saint Louis, MO
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

The pay is great, especially for those who grow their territories and start hitting bonuses and building their commission. Good benefits, and 20 days PTO start. The option to have a hybrid schedule varies depending on manager, but company is consistent in allowing for work-life balance (doctor's appointments, school drop offs, etc). Also get cellphone/gas allowance, and are able to expense all client lunches, happy hours, outings, as well as some internal meals. Lots of opportunities to grow, whether it be internal leadership, national sales opportunities, corporate positions, etc.

      Cons

The sales cycle is long, particularly when breaking a new account, so it can take a while to get going. Very little training. Mostly just online modules and then the expectation from management is to "shadow" other sellers. While culture in most offices tends to be fast paced, friendly, energetic, and full of high performers, it can be very difficult for new people to get anyone to slow down to help them, or get partnership in the beginning.
