Pros

You'll pretty much be on your own, so if you need to practice your skillset or gain some more work experience, this is a good place to get your hands on many projects. You will get to wear many hats and become a Jack/Jane-of-all-trades here.

Cons

Senior management is known to make unscrupulous and poor business decisions that can, and will, negatively affect employees' workloads, and occasionally, paychecks, with no warning. Don't be surprised if employees in your department are asked to take a salary cut while new hiring in another department is simultaneously taking place. 10-12 hour days are expected on a regular basis, including during national holidays. If you're not staying till 8-9pm every day, you're "not productive enough". If the guy next to you IS staying late, but he's doing so only because he has to correct mistakes that he was the sole cause of, all of a sudden he's a "superstar". Management has no concept of who's really working hard vs who's a deadweight causing others to have to pick up the slack.

Pros

Friendly and helpful co-workers Decent health insurance benefits Company was small enough to celebrate birthdays - not necessary but a nice touch. Flexible in letting some employees leave for a longer lunch to take care of personal business from time to time

Cons

Small tech department Bring you own coffee and/or tea No orientation for new employees No overtime for employees and I've seen people and have worked 10hrs+ in a day Cutting people's salary to show a higher margin of profit Layoffs when projects were almost completed to save money
