Pros

Tons of opportunities to chose from as far as type of work.

Cons

Some department management types do not trust their employees. This was made evident by a switch that I made between departments, which was from a more trusting environment to one in which Big Brother was obviously present.

Pros

- Basically never go over 40 hours a week. WLB and culture depends a lot on which branch and dept you go to though. - A great place to get experience and get your foot in the door. - Travel opportunities

Cons

- Current political situation causing a lot of uncertainty, especially for probationary employees. - You probably won't develop many skills easily transferable to private sector. - Outdated hardware and software. - No telework

Commute is long but little traffic The mission can be rewarding Likely best pay for a federal employee in the DC locality pay area

Cons

Culture is poor, arrogance and antisocial behavior is often rewarded Leadership is in the way more often than it supports Overhead activities waste money and time High degree of nepotism DRP removed capable engineers and leaders that have not been replaced
