Pros

Credit for previous applicable experience in a relatable company/field. Resulting in potentially higher starting pay. Actual pay raises based on hours worked. (1,000 hours[or about 6 months of 40hr weeks= 40 cent raise until capped, for example. ) You work in one department, no getting dragged all over the store because "hey you know how to do this".

Cons

Hours are scheduled based on seniority. Union can be cumbersome if not completely ineffective.

Pros

Healthcare price, 10% off Kroger food, co-workers are awesome, sometimes the union helps, and you earn sick pay with hours pretty quickly.

Cons

They hate raising our pay rate and then cut hours when forced to pay us more. Never fully staffed, never fully trained, management worried more about the bottom line than how to attain a good bottom line. They limit how many hours of sick pay you can take in one year to 48 hours. Have to fight for vacation day use. District management and higher have forgotten how things actually work at the store level and often have goals and rules that aren't attainable. Retaliation from management often happens.
