Pros

Hello, my name is Mike Rogers. I am the Owner/CEO of Killingsworth Environmental and all the Killingsworth companies. My wife Debbie and I started this company, 22 years ago, out of a laundry room in Indian Trail, N.C. and thru hard work and determination, have grown it into the 45th largest pest control company in North America. I certainly do appreciate all the online reviews on GlassDoor.com about my company. I know that sometimes it is impossible to sit down with me to discuss concerns that some of my past and present team members may have about this company. In this age of Internet and Social Media, this may be the most well suited forum to discuss issues. The first thing that is always important to remember is that this is a business, and just like any other business, we perform work on people’s homes and they pay us for it. We in turn pay our employees, vendors, rent, suppliers, vehicle payments, fuel, insurance, etc., etc., etc.! At the end of the month, if we do everything right, we often times show a profit and that’s how I get paid. We have 167 employees and we ask all of them to share with our customers all the home services that we have available to them. We offer termite control, pest control, wildlife control, mosquito control, lawn care, mold remediation, indoor air quality remediation, encapsulated crawlspaces, heating and cooling, plumbing, electrical, carpet cleaning, hardwood floor cleaning, fire and water damage restoration and bed bug remediation. Now while some folks might consider this to be “sales”, we view it as educating our customers to the award winning home services that we offer. Although some of the complaints on this website has been the need for more sales, we are not unlike any service or product company. We all survive off our ability to engage our customers into trying our other services. The beauty of this philosophy is that there are no earnings ceilings at Killingsworth. By just mentioning these services, our folks are paid additional commissions on everything the customer decides to try. As far as the hours go, we are always going to be there for our customers, so if it means giving a little extra effort, we will always oblige. As far as the upper echelon of our company only being family, I have 2 sons that are in the company and who I plan to hand the company to one day. Other than my wife and my two sons, I am not related to any other managers in my company. I just promoted my Vice-President to President in a big company party, last Saturday. He is not related to me and has worked hard for Killingsworth for 16 years. He started at the bottom and has done every minuscule job you can imagine. He has always been fair and has always been loyal to the company, it’s employees and our customers. He does bleed green and after 16 years it paid off for him in a big way. You know one thing I have learned in 54 years of life, there are some people who will just not allow themselves to be successful. They are always complaining about the situation they are in or the rules that they are asked to play by. In all my life, I’ve had 3 jobs. One theory that I’ve always lived by, “if you think the grass is greener, on the other side of the fence …. Just make sure you’re not looking where the septic tank is buried.” If you want green grass, go pick up some fertilizer. Be the best that you can be. It is absolutely impossible to make everyone happy, but with 73 thousand customers and numerous Super Service Awards in various divisions, we have a pretty good track record. If you are considering working for Killingsworth, I would advise you to bring your “A” game. The 99% of our company that is not complaining on websites, are going to be tough completion for the many awards and prizes that we are always having contests for. The one promise that I will guarantee you, “Quality people are very valuable to us and a must for our customers. If you bring that strong desire to succeed and be the best, you will work here, forever and be monetarily and consciously rewarded.”

Pros

has a good work culture

Cons

this company will pay you very little and expect unreasonable things from you. you are in fear of being terminated the whole time you are there. Management will lie and make things up to make sure nothing comes back to them.
