Pros

The people are amazing and Evergreen Brick Works is a beautiful space to work at. The organization is doing its best to offer flexible work options wherever possible, and there are great perks like personal days and birthdays off in addition to standard vacation. The organization has truly embraced a new approach related to the "Future of Work" seeking to respond to the changing needs and desires of employees.

Cons

Capacity and workload are an ongoing challenge. The organization often tries to do too much, too fast, which can lead to burnout and turnover.

Pros

Evergreen is a really enjoyable place to work. The staff are all very kind and inviting. The mission is very gratifying, since it gives everyone here a sense of purpose. Staff work toward something larger than themselves. It's a place that all of Toronto can come visit, enjoy the greenery and see what's possible inside a city. I loved the work-life balance Evergreen has.

Cons

Last year there was a budget shortfall, which sadly is the case with so many non-profits that depend on donations and grants, and some people were let go, including me.

Pros

good work life balance (worked from home and manager was flexible and understanding), staff, Despite cons, I would still recommend organization but would flag a few things.

Cons

they layoff a lot of their staff when finances become tough, which seems to happen often. still a very White-led organization that is not intersectional. Too many programs that are all over the place- was hard to explain to people what we do. HR leadership team did not seem to be understanding of their staff at times, and often showed White Supremacist and/or privileged behavior and thinking. They try to be allies or promote DEI but it often comes out very wrong. their DEI attempts feels more like a checkbox than an effort to unlearn and do the hard work but that's expected from management/seniors leadership who have only started to think about racial justice, intersectionality, DEI etc.
