Pros
Very professional office. Almost too professional. I've worked at most of the Big 6 bank brokerages and some independents. I've never seen a brokerage that was so "by the book" right down to locking filing cabinets.
Cons
The HR team let me get completely set up to fail. The broker I was working for made me sign paperwork saying they wanted me to make 100 sales calls in 4 hours. During my "performance review" II was praised for my stellar performance yet forced to sign a document that stated at the bottom "If unsatisfactory performance continues further discipilinary action will be taken". At no point in this charade did anyone from HR step in and say this is rediculous. I did outside sales and put my team in front of nearly $10 million a month in leads which is rockstar grade for my job. I was terminated for "poor performance", and there was no offer to transfer me to another team or branch. When I illustrated my exemplary performance my termination was then based on "creating a negative team environment" which was a load of bull crap, I helped out other team members practically all day and never got in any disagreements with anyone and kept everyone laughing. Then I was blamed for taking too many breaks (1 10 minute break an hour, I ate lunch at my desk) and then for leaving early (3:50pm instead of 4pm). To make matters worse in this comedy of errors I was lured from a stable job at National Bank I had been at for over 4 years. It takes 6-18 months to build a sales pipeline, and they fired me after 7 months. To add insult to injury, they wanted me to sign a legal disclosure - because if I didn't they'd only give me one weeks paid notice, if I signed it I'd get two. Legally I was entitled to six because they enduced me to leave a secure job. Then, a month later they had the audacity to ask me to remit a check because they overpaid me for three days work the week I was fired. They also modified my HR records after I was fired when I requested them via PIPEDA. My highest performing days were removed from my call sheets and the "document" I was forced to sign was modified. Luckily I had a picture to send to the HR person, but received no response.
