Pros

Great place to get experience and good working hours if you're in school as they are open weekends and later in the evenings.

Cons

Corporate doesn't really care about the lower level employees, sometimes we experienced racist remarks or threats from clients and were not allowed to ban those clients. Additionally a manager was hired who had a heavy criminal record against the advice of the staff but was eventually terminated after repeating another crime.

Pros

Decent health benefits and PTO. Due to the extremely high volume of animals that were scheduled, I was well-compensated but at the cost of my mental health.

Cons

This job was a nightmare for me as a new graduate, but it horrible for more experienced doctors and all staff as well. Mentorship was very poor. I got 3 months of direct supervision, and then I was on shifts completely on my own. I was overworked to the point of total exhaustion, and no one cared. Banfield is all about the money at the expense of all their employees. Patient care is clinic dependent but overall poor. I was scheduled over 20 pets a day. Animals would be sitting in kennels for 6-8 hours just waiting on me to give their vaccines. Clients were lined up in the lobby at closing, understandably pissed off that their animal waited all day for basic care. We were over scheduled and under-staffed. I absolutely would not recommend Banfield to ANYONE. It made me want to leave the field altogether. I was locked into a predatory sign-on bonus, otherwise I would have left after the first few months.
