Pros

Making simple tasks as complex is normal, but making complex things as simple is innovation; that is what is 22nd Century all about. I am happy to be part of this exponentially growing company since almost its inception.

Cons

None which I could think of

Pros

Great management, Good opportunities. A small company feels like a midsize company in terms of stability.

Cons

Some of the staff were difficult, falling behind due to staffing issues and waiting on clearances. This is not the fault of the company; it just puts a lot of stress on you for the hours you work. The prime contractor seemed to have unrealistic expectations outside of the contract parameters.

Pros

The strongest aspect of the role was the customer environment and the nature of the technical work itself. The work provided exposure to meaningful engineering problems and opportunities to learn new technologies and domains. The customer-side environment allowed for a fairly independent workflow without excessive micromanagement, which made it easier to stay focused on technical execution. Team members working directly on the contract were generally professional and capable.

Cons

The support structure from the employer side felt lacking compared to competing companies in the area. Healthcare costs were significantly higher than expected — approximately $1,250/month for a “platinum” family healthcare plan — while some smaller companies in the same market offered substantially lower premiums or fully employer-covered healthcare. There were also shifting onsite expectations that created significant commuting and travel burdens with limited support. Combined with the benefits situation, the overall compensation package did not always feel competitive relative to market conditions and the demands of the role. There also appeared to be relatively high turnover, which impacted continuity and long-term morale.
