Description When Pfizer decided to put a Cork in it, the pharmaceutical giant made Ireland one of the world's largest manufacturers and exporters of pharmaceuticals. Pfizer Ireland Pharmaceuticals is part of the Pfizer Global Manufacturing division. Parent company Pfizer began operating in Ireland in 1969 with a citric acid manufacturing plant and now operates about a dozen Irish plants. Its manufacturing facilities are involved in the development, formulation, and bulk manufacture of human pharmaceuticals (especially cardiovascular drugs) and animal health care products, as well as sterile pharmaceutical products and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
