Description Vehicles are nothing without the frames on which their engines and transmissions run, as Freightliner Custom Chassis knows. The manufacturer churns out more than 100 chassis per day for motor homes, walk-in vans, and commercial and school buses from an assembly plant in South Carolina. Its chassis are used in Coachmen, Fleetwood, and Winnebago RVs, among others. The company is also developing hybrid-electric and compressed natural gas-powered models; UPS placed a large order for its hybrid-electric chassis to use in a portion of its commercial van fleet. Established in 1995, Freightliner Custom Chassis is a subsidiary of heavy truck maker Daimler Trucks North America LLC.
