Mission To solve the World's energy problems
Description The company makes solar swimming pool-heating systems, solar hot water heaters, and thermal energy storage systems. FAFCO's heating systems utilize solar panels to control the temperature of water. Its solar domestic hot water system, Hot2o, was developed as a result of a 10-year partnership with the Department of Energy. The company also manufactures IceStor -- a product that controls commercial cooling costs by storing energy at night during off-peak times, and then releasing it to cool buildings during the day. Customers include schools, hotels, and offices. Its solar water heaters are marketed to homeowners. FAFCO was founded in 1969 by chairman Freeman Ford and Richard Rhodes.
