We are seeking an experienced Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to help maintain the reliability and performance of our fleet and processing equipment.
Position Overview
We are currently seeking a fully ticketed Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team.
This is a shop-based position responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a diverse fleet of heavy equipment and scrap processing machinery. The successful candidate will play a key role in minimizing downtime, supporting preventative maintenance initiatives, and ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational.
The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with strong troubleshooting abilities, a proactive approach to preventative maintenance, and a commitment to maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing on heavy equipment and processing machinery.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and respond to operational breakdowns in a timely manner.
- Conduct equipment inspections and identify maintenance requirements before failures occur.
- Complete repairs on material handlers, excavators, wheel loaders, forklifts, trailers, and other support equipment.
- Utilize Limble CMMS to manage preventative maintenance schedules, complete work orders, document repairs, track equipment history, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Maintain detailed service records, inspection reports, and repair documentation.
- Coordinate parts requirements and assist with inventory management.
- Work closely with operations personnel to maximize equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with mentoring and supporting maintenance personnel when required.
Qualifications
- Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification is required.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Demonstrated experience repairing and maintaining hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on heavy equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Experience using Limble CMMS for preventative maintenance scheduling, work order management, equipment history tracking, inspection documentation, and maintenance record keeping is considered a strong asset.
- Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in scrap recycling, construction, forestry, mining, material handling, or other heavy industrial environments is considered an asset.
- Supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safe work practices and preventative maintenance principles.
Equipment You'll Work On
Our fleet includes a variety of specialized heavy equipment and processing machinery, including:
- Sennebogen material handlers
- Liebherr material handling equipment
- Komatsu excavators
- Forklifts
- Roll-off trucks and Trailers as well as end dumps
- Balers, shears, and scrap processing equipment
- John Deere loaders
- Shredders and hammer mill
- And a wide variety of downstream sorting machines which includes various conveyors and belts
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Overtime opportunities available

Pay: $40.00-$55.00 per hour
