About the opportunity:
Kostklip® is seeking an experienced product designer to join an existing team of junior and senior product design engineers. As part of the Kostklip® Engineering department, you would be involved in the design and manufacturing of new innovative solutions for retail merchandising and pricing display. The responsibilities of the Senior Product Design Engineer range from product development with new and existing customers, all the way to bringing those products to life in a production environment.
This position is a great opportunity for an individual with a blend of creative and technical abilities that is eager to bring their ideas to life in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, and who enjoys ownership of projects from start to finish. Experience with product design and manufacturing is a must have, but this role is open to individuals with various technical backgrounds in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or other related fields
Responsibilities:
- Design and development of new products for retail merchandising and price display industry. Manufacturing methods include, but are not limited to: plastic extrusion, plastic injection molding, CNC & die cut plastics, sheet metal, wire bending, die-cutting, etc.
- Prototyping of new products.
- Assist with quoting of new designs, including revisioning of existing designs to ensure that products are cost-effective to produce.
- Creation of production drawings and tools for the manufacturing of new products, and revisioning of existing products.
- Creation of quality control tools and testing procedures to support the Production department.
- Testing and validation of new raw materials.
- Assist with plant improvement projects which include, but are not limited to: purchasing of new production equipment, development of new manufacturing methods, automation of new and existing automation equipment, safety guard design, and more.
- Occasional programming of CNC router for production of new parts.
- Collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Production, and Quality Control departments for tasks related to improvement of manufacturing plant and product line offerings.
- Communicate with external vendors and suppliers in a capacity related to product design and development.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or other relevant technical education background.
- Demonstrated experience with product design for manufacturing.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with product design and/or manufacturing.
- Experience with extrusion part and/or tool design is considered an asset.
- Proficient with SolidWorks (other 3D modelling experience like Inventor or Fusion360 will be considered).
- Experience creating production drawings for use in manufacturing.
- Experience developing tools & jigs to assist with high-volume production.
- Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
- Strong oral and written English communication skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
