Job Description
Reporting to the Transportation Assistant Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for all aspects in the operations department including training, planning, assigning, directing and managing work while adhering to company policy and procedures. This role is charged with the goal to effectively and efficiently manage the development and directions of the operational team to provide the highest standard of service and maintain the smooth and efficient running of the department and promote high quality customer satisfaction. Also focused on how to reduce labour costs and promote workplace safety.
Job Duties:
- Supervise and direct workforce and maintain quality standards while improving the efficiency of the department.
- Meet and exceed departmental productivity and efficiency targets; continually striving to improve the quality standard of airline catering service delivered to the airline customers.
- Review processes and implement process improvements in line with company best practices.
- Develop, plan, implement and maintain all training activities.
- Direct and supervise and schedule the work for all Drivers, Bond Room, Galley Equipment team
- Monitor the flight loading and off-loading activities and ensure those activities are accurate and on time while following customer specifications and requirements.
- Manage the work schedule and assign work according to daily flight requirements; adjust as needed on a continual basis.
- Maintain accurate records for all daily operations.
- Conduct internal audits as required to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Project work as assigned by the Transportation Assistant Manager.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
- Coach and discipline of staff as necessary.
- Ensure all health and safety standards are met.
- Conduct accident investigations and corrective actions are met.
- Ensure compliance to ramp safety standards and conduct safety audits.
- Conduct adjustment on daily work schedule and assign work to staff according to the daily flight movement for providing good quality service to customers and achieving maximum productivity
- Supervise the staff for the observance of the safety standards and promote the safety at work in the Company.
- Coordinate catering delays, aircraft changes, meal increases, and other non-scheduled activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Skills and Abilities Required:
- 3 to 5 years of operational experience in a union environment with proven leadership abilities.
- Valid driver’s licence Class 5, and able to meet security clearance requirements for Ramp Access. (Maintain RAIC & DA).
- Motivated self-starter with good communication skills.
- Process oriented with good organizational abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent Customer Relations skills.
- Good command of English, written and spoken.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good radio etiquette.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft office (Word/Excel/Powerpoint/Outlook)
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts as required by the operation.
- Experience or familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma concepts or process management would be an asset.
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes. Must be able to supervise workforce including; coaching, directing, motivating and progressive discipline as necessary.
- Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
