Elliot Lake Retirement Living (ELRL) is the leading provider of rental housing to retired and non-retired individuals in the province. ELRL owns a total of 1,375 residential units in the City of Elliot Lake.
We are seeking a skilled Carpenter, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various carpentry tasks and possess the following:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Carpenter completes all required repairs and improvements to homes/townhomes and multi-residential properties. The focus of job duties is on exterior structures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily communication with the Supervisor staff.
- Carryout Carpenter duties which consist of general repairs
- Other duties as assigned.
GENERAL
Duties are varied and can run the gamut of repair requirements in residential properties, both internal and external; however, the majority of work takes place outside and will consist of repair/design/installation of steps, fences, handrails and decks.
- Repair/replace doors and door frames
- Drywall repair and replacement including mudding, taping, sanding
- Repairs/replacement of window and door screens, dryer vents, radon boxes, weather stripping and mailboxes.
- Install, general maintenance repairs to items in unit such as, doorbells, doorknobs, closet doors, handrails, etc.
- Repair and service interior products such as doors, windows, kitchen cupboards, bathroom vanities using hand and power tools
- Install, repair and service exterior products such as siding, shutters, awnings, fencing, decks, signs, using hand and power tools.
- Measure and mark guidelines to be used for installations
- Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate repairs
- Load and unload construction materials, and move materials to work areas
- Assist tradespersons such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, etc.
- Clean up work site debris
ADMINISTRATION
- Supports cost-cutting and expense control programs by fixing rather than replacing parts when possible, not being wasteful with materials and supplies, and practicing the correct use for tools and equipment.
- Demonstrates customer services skills by treating residents and others with respect, answering resident questions, responding sensitively to complaints about maintenance services, and completing assigned work orders with efficiency and urgency.
- Completing work orders efficiently and accurately in Yardi using desktop or handheld devices
- Strive to have all repairs completed within a 30-day maximum period
- Maintain an organized scheduling and tracking system to effectively complete all maintenance requests in a timely manner and in the order by which they were received or by level of urgency.
- Ensure company vehicle is kept clean and always organized, reporting any mechanical issues immediately and always operate vehicle in a safe and legal manner
- Presenting a personal appearance that is always clean and professional, including wearing company approved and directed clothing
- Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Must have a current driver's license and provide a driver’s abstract
- Must provide a criminal record check
