R.J. MacIsaac Construction Limited (RJMI) is seeking an Environmental Specialist/Project Manager to play a key role in coordinating and advancing the environmental aspects of marine and industrial recycling and demolition projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to broader project delivery while applying and developing expertise in environmental compliance and project execution.
The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of environmental oversight and practical project delivery—supporting regulatory compliance, environmental monitoring fieldwork, and on-site implementation within complex project environments.

What you’ll do
This position is intentionally structured to be flexible and scalable, allowing it to align with the successful candidate’s level of experience. At minimum, the role will focus on environmental coordination and site-based activities. For candidates with additional qualifications and experience, there is an opportunity to take on project management responsibilities, lead environmental programs, and support complex regulatory and hazardous materials work.
As part of the Operations team, the successful candidate will support and/or lead environmental aspects of marine and heavy industrial projects. Responsibilities will scale based on experience and may include:

Based on experience and capability, the scope of this role may expand to include project coordination, environmental permitting and approvals, hazardous materials management, and leading the environmental workstreams of complex projects.
This may also include providing technical guidance to project teams, supporting or acting as a Qualified Person (QP) for reporting purposes, and engaging directly with clients, regulators, and other key stakeholders.

Work will be primarily based in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia at RJMI’s site in the Port of Sheet Harbour, but may require travel across the region based on the nature of active projects. Depending on proximity of the successful candidate, accommodations will be provided through corporate housing arrangements during the workweek.
