MultiWood is growing, and we're looking for a Sales Lead to help us build out a regional outside sales presence while keeping our inside sales team running at its best. This is a unique, high-ownership role for someone who thrives in a player-coach capacity - splitting their time between mentoring our inside sales team and personally prospecting, developing, and converting new business across Southern Alberta. You'll also be the key commercial link between MultiWood's manufacturing pillar and our affiliated distribution partner, Formations Inc., helping us bring a coordinated offering to shared and prospective customers. Reports To: Director, Manufacturing
Location: Calgary, AB - with regional travel across Southern Alberta
What You’ll Be Doing:
Outside Sales & New Business Development
- Personally drive new business development as your primary growth focus - prospecting, qualifying, and converting new accounts across a defined regional territory.
- Dedicate approximately 50% of your time to outside sales activity, including field visits, customer meetings, site assessments, and relationship-building with prospective clients.
- Build and maintain a structured prospecting pipeline, tracking all activity in our Sales Performance Tracker.
- Develop and present tailored proposals and quotes, leveraging a strong understanding of MultiWood’s product offerings, lead times, and pricing.
Inside Sales - Mentorship & Functional Leadership
- Serve as the functional lead and mentor for MultiWood’s inside sales team - coaching on quoting standards, customer communication, order accuracy, and overall service quality.
- Act as an escalation point for complex customer inquiries, pricing decisions, and order issues requiring sales judgment.
- Manage a designated portfolio of key accounts, overseeing relationship management, order flow, and growth opportunities.
What You Bring:
- 3+ years of progressive sales experience, including at least 1 year in a senior account management or sales role.
- Demonstrated success in outside sales and new business development, including prospecting, pipeline management, and closing in a B2B environment.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, or developing an inside sales or customer service team.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and order management tools, with strong data discipline.
- Strong quoting and pricing experience, with comfort managing margin decisions and escalation processes.
- Valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and ability to travel within Canada.
Bonus Points:
- Background in building materials, millwork, door manufacturing, cabinet industry, or a related manufacturing or distribution sector.
- Established relationships within the cabinet, millwork, or home building trades across Southern Alberta.
- Experience building a sales function or establishing outside sales activity within a primarily inside-sales organization.
