The Opportunity
Are you a journeyperson electrician or electrical technologist who wants to come off the tools and build a long-term career in estimating? This is a role for someone who wants to learn the business side of construction deeply — how buildings get priced, scoped, and won — and grow into a senior estimator who leads bids and shapes design.
You already understand how electrical systems get built in the field. We will teach you how to turn that knowledge into accurate, competitive bids. You will work directly alongside our estimator and electrical project management team, reviewing real bids on real projects, with a clear path to running your own pursuits within 12–24 months.
This is not a number-crunching seat. You will collaborate with our design and project teams to find the smartest, most efficient way to build — bringing your field experience to bear on constructability, sequencing, and cost. If you are an independent self-starter who takes pride in getting the details right, we will give you the mentorship, the tools, and the runway to become one of the best estimators in Alberta.

Why Build Your Career at Inferno
Our Values
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate how they are a match for our values:
The Role
You will start by supporting our estimating team and grow into owning bids of your own. Your work directly shapes whether we win — and whether we win profitably.
As you ramp, you will learn to:
1. Perform detailed quantity take-offs from architectural and electrical drawings
2. Estimate costs for electrical and solar projects — commercial/light industrial base buildings, tenant improvements, LED lighting upgrades, battery storage, and EV charging.
3. Request, track, and evaluate pricing from suppliers, wholesalers, and lighting agencies to keep bids accurate.
4. Cultivate relationships with key suppliers.
5. Run cost comparisons to identify the most efficient, cost-effective approach for each project.
6. Build customer-facing proposals — designs, inclusions, and exclusions — for senior review.
7. Monitor bidding platforms (Merx, APC, Construction Connect, Compass) for new opportunities, tender documents, and addendums.
8. Support preliminary electrical system design under senior guidance.
9. Analyze project costing and refine your estimating practices over time.
10. Stay current on incentive programs, technologies, products, and CEC code changes.
Where this leads
Within 12–24 months, a strong performer owns their own bids end to end, leads pursuits, and mentors the next person we bring in behind them.
What You Bring
We care more about field judgment and trajectory than a finished estimating résumé. We will train the estimating mechanics.
