Robotics Foreman – Electrical & Automation
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Robotics Foreman – Electrical & Automation to join our unionized manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for leading daily operations within the robotics department while actively supporting robotic equipment, automation systems, and production reliability.
The successful candidate will be a licensed Industrial Electrician (442A) with strong troubleshooting capabilities in robotics, automation, and industrial electrical systems. This position requires a working foreman who can provide technical leadership, hands-on guidance, programming support, and real-time troubleshooting in a fast-paced production environment.
Requirements
- Licensed Industrial Electrician (442A);
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, automation, robotics, or industrial production environments;
- Previous leadership, lead hand, or supervisory experience in a unionized environment considered an asset;
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and automation equipment;
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PLC logic, and technical drawings;
- Experience with robotic systems, servo motors, drives, encoders, sensors, relays, contactors, and safety circuits;
- Familiarity with robotic programming, robotic path adjustments, and automation troubleshooting;
- Working knowledge of PLCs, I/O systems, HMIs, and industrial networking considered an asset;
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities;
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills;
- Proactive mindset with a strong focus on safety, quality, uptime, and continuous improvement.
Job Responsibilities
- Industrial Electrician Trade Certification (442A) – Required;
- Robotics, PLC, or automation training/certifications considered an asset;
- Lead and coordinate daily activities within the robotics department in a unionized manufacturing environment;
- Provide technical leadership and support for robotic equipment, automation systems, and industrial controls;
- Lead troubleshooting, recovery, and resolution activities related to robotic and automation systems, providing hands-on technical guidance and coordinating with maintenance and electrical trades as required;
- Support robotic programming, teach pendant adjustments, path modifications, and automation system optimization as required;
- Provide escalation support for complex robotic and automation issues impacting production;
- Coordinate and support preventive maintenance and equipment recovery activities related to robotic and automation systems;
- Provide technical support for commissioning, setup, integration, and optimization of robotic and automated equipment;
- Monitor robotic system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, safety, and cycle time;
- Coordinate with production, engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to support operational and production requirements;
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and applicable collective agreement requirements;
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to robotics technicians and production personnel;
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement activities;
- Complete shift reports, downtime documentation, operational updates, and departmental communications as required.
Compensation
- $43.00 – $48.00 per hour, depending on experience;
