All writing and editing applicants are asked to complete writing and editing tests to indeed gauge their skillset. As our company adheres to the best SEO practices while also abiding by AP Style guidelines and core grammar principles, our writing and editing tests are crucial tools for selecting the best candidates for open content positions. Applicants are free to move forward with the test or stop the application process if not willing to go through that assessment, but at the moment we review the test, we expect to see what was clearly requested in the instructions of the test, including the word count. Every single instruction has a purpose and we evaluate all of them, which is why this section of the application process is so important. If an applicant is not able to follow instructions for a pre-employment assessment, it is very likely that it will not follow instructions during employment, especially if completing writing assignments with specific guidelines, word count, and deadlines is part of the day-to-day job. Furthermore, everything is communicated via email up to the completion of the writing assessment. If the test is up to par, candidates are invited to our office for an in-person interview with Human Resources and the hiring manager.
