If I was dealing with a difficult client the first thing I would want is clarification from the client to be sure that I heard the information correctly. This way the client and I are on the same page. I would then ask the client for suggestion on a solution and offer some as well, then collaboratively choose together strategies to practice as a resolution to the problem. As a counselor I must be vigilant of myself and the client pinpointing any personality differences and immediately working through them.
