Director interview

On the day of the interview, 5 mins before the video interview the recruiter calls saying that the director was on vacation yesterday and is in a meeting so need to reschedule for the follow day. Seemed a little ridiculous as if they didn't have things together because why wouldn't you know there was a meeting earlier as opposed to calling 5 mins prior to the interview to cancel it. Things happen so I said no problem and had the interview the following day. Was sent some helpful information on how to have a good video interview. Dress shirt and tie as if its an in person interview, a link to their isms, and some other info. You would think at this point the recruiter wouldn't move a candidate further in the process for an hour long interview with a director unless the recruiter felt the candidate met the requirements for the job. Well you know that story from above with the "call center experience". As a director, I would not be happy having my time wasted with interviews for candidates that did not meet the basic qualifications. The recruiters reasoning stunk. The director interview had a lot of the same questions as the previous ones with the recruiter. Also remember a question about "what is a failure you have had in the past?" Don't forget to mention what you've learned from the failure when answering this question. The director seemed much more down to earth than the seemingly fake recruiter. Of course, he was all company man. You have to be to get to that level, eating and breathing the culture, climbing the ladder, you know what I mean. All in all it seemed to of gone well. He even explained how certain things may look like micro managing etc... which was nice to hear a spade being called a spade. He was truthful about the hours involved in the job and how they are always monitoring you and criticizing your phone conversations with other colleges. Ultimately with the idea of making you a better salesman, but of course you're going to have people abuse that process to take a jab at you from time to time regardless if you're meeting your sales goals. Typical office environment stuff.
