Do you find that your team members in India take more sick days than US? On my team in the US, we work from home if we get a cold but are generally still able to work. Being too sick to work happens to each of our US team maybe 1-3 times a year. My team in India takes 1-2 sick days per month. Are they actually too sick to work and that level of illness is more common? Or is there a cultural difference that you don't work if not feeling well?
My patience for this job is waning… I’m 35, single, no debt - Made some decent investments last year in some AI chip stocks and now they’re coming to roost.. my brokerage account is now more than my 401k. I feel like my life is 90% work and 10% everything else. I wonder if I should take some extended time off (6mo-1yr) as I would love to actually have space for things during the week again and explore / grow in other areas of my life. Is it time?
Would you take a pay cut from $205K base to $180K base to go fully remote + can live wherever (from 2 days in office in NYC).
How do you all deal with 7 hrs of straight back-to-back meetings?
A LONG time. They need to be fully sure that you have a clean record and are innocent enough to thoroughly exploit.
Long enough for you to reconsider the job ;)
Mine took a week. OP - don’t be afraid to call the background check company for a status update. Often times they’ll finish the background check but not push anything to Deloitte for a few days (that’s what happened to me).
Mine took 3 days. But I heard it is usually 3 weeks.
Mine took a while, but I spent a few days arguing back and forth about a former employer that got bought out, and then went under, after I left. It was like the background check company had no concept that such a thing was possible. Confirming my employment with my manager at the time wasn’t enough because she didn’t work there anymore... but like, NOBODY worked there anymore because the company doesn’t exist. 🤦♀️
Simple Google search lol
It depends upon how many countries and states you lived in, where you went to college etc. It took 3 weeks for me at both Deloitte and PwC because I lived in 6 different countries and 3 US states
Mine was pretty quick. Someone did call my then boss and confirm my responsibilities. Seems like they outsource to India for those services.
Mine took so long I had to start before mine was even completed. Recruiter told me it’s not uncommon.
Very good to know, ty for the heads up. I’m just nervous cause I transferred schools a few times and while I didn’t lie or skirt any questions it’s not clear from my resume.
Mine was super long as they contacted all the companies on my resume, but they had troubles getting a hold of one which held the whole thing up and it was a company years back so it was next to impossible for me to dig up any documentation. Luckily I found the HR person to confirm but it was a super stressful thing to worry about after putting my two weeks at my other gig.
I believe I did wait until the week before. Unnecessarily stressful position. Welcome to the #1 workplace!!
Things that delay background checks are usually county/ state criminal records. If you have an extensive address history, sometimes it takes longer to get manual results back from certain courts.
With companies using The Work Number more now to capture your previous pay and job history you’d think things would be quicker. I got hired 5 weeks before my start date but the background ppl didn’t start the process until a week or two before. Crazy
