I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great technology, great company to work. Good exposure to new technology, Salary is very good. Additional plus and minus is lot of free time.

    Cons

Very slow in taking decision, even in difficult times when need of urgent resources management takes its own time to approve. Customer support is very poor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Whenever there is a custoemr it would be good for the mgmt to involve with engineering team and ensure that proper support is given to customer

I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I talk here only about the digital sector, the one I work in.
Potentially one could do lots of interesting work in STM on leading edge projects.

    Cons

Management has often really no idea of what it is doing from a technical point of view.
Lots of money are wasted on losing investments, such as CMOS technologies, only to preserve jobs in France and Italy, for political reasons.
Careers are often based on personal relationship and/or seniority, not on real merits.
It is also very difficult to remove unsuccessful managers, often they are left without real responsibilities, but keeping their salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Resign. Hoping substitutes are real businessmen, and not politicians in disguise.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
