PLEASE NOTE: This is not a digital marketing role. We're looking for a media manager to focus on traditional media outlet like TV, radio, newspaper, etc.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Media Manager is our point of contact for all things traditional media (non- digital, Facebook, Google, or SEO). You keep up with and get ahead of the ever-changing media landscape. Working closely with our accounts team and business development and reporting directly to the President of the company, you implement successful campaigns by strategizing on media plans, negotiating media buys, and having a roster of vendors who trust you and our company. Rather than finding comfort in only ticking off tasks, you want to shake things up for the better and lay down the foundation for a strong media team. RESPONSIBILITIES

Media Planning and Buying

Develop media plans with Account Managers and coordinate with external vendors to secure media buys based on the project’s content and advertising schedule
Negotiate timelines and costs for English media buys (Social, Digital, Print, Broadcast, OOH, etc.) and secure desired placements in a timely manner
Present media plans and campaign proposals to clients and other stakeholders during initial sales and regular meetings
Collaborate with the marketing team to explore and identify different ways to integrate media into marketing strategies in North-America and overseas

Media Research and Reporting

Compile client-facing media reports with quantitative results and qualitative analysis
Identify new media opportunities, partnerships, technologies and tools to grow our current services
Monitor and stay on top of media trends for all outlets including digital, print, broadcast, OOH, Social Media
Continuously assess the success of media advertising plans and campaigns based on industry benchmarks and current market data

Vendor Management

Negotiate, communicate and coordinate with vendors for all media-related actions
Responsible for managing vendor contracts and issuing POs for all client and company media placements
Ensure that all media invoices, discrepancies, and billings are inputted, cleared, and issued in a timely fashion
Stay up to date with latest offerings, vendor promotions, and pricing updates

Process and Administration

Maintain and organize media inventory including media kits, pricing, vendor notes, and ad-specifications (sizes, file types, creative deadlines etc.)
Manage and update media admin tracking sheets related to bookings, POs, contracts, payments, etc.
Update our internal database and team on any new or adjusted media inventory

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

As a highly-analytical media planner, in-depth knowledge of market research and target audiences is essential. Your confidence in forming strong relationships and partnerships comes from your experience dealing with different external stakeholders. To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator and decision-maker who can work effectively within a team environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing or relevant field
A minimum of 3 years of experience working in media or similar role — either in-house or with an agency
Media experience from BC lower mainland
Demonstrable experience with building effective media campaigns
Advance knowledge of media specific terminology and digital metrics, corresponding data, and their implication on planning efforts
Excellent knowledge of analytics tools and campaign evaluation metrics

Technical Skills

Intermediate spreadsheet skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets for reporting, data visualization and ad-hoc analysis
Excellent writing skills; English fluency is required, Chinese is an advantage
Excellent email etiquette
Comfortable with remote work tools and ability to learn systems quickly (Scoro, Notion, Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, etc.)
