A growing mechanical engineering firm with a national presence is seeking a confident, individual with construction experience to be the Client facing representative and field inspector for Commercial, residential, and institutional projects in Southern Ontario.

Core Roles and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be the customer facing representative for the company, for construction phase of projects, interfacing with clients, Architects, and other consultants.

Duties

Ø Attend building construction sites, observe the installation of HVAC, piping and plumbing systems, and prepare project status and observed deficiency reports to ensure mechanical systems are installed in conformance with the engineered drawings and specifications, and applicable municipal, provincial and national building codes.

Ø Review contract documents (drawings and specifications) prior to the start of construction.

Ø Review contractor submittals for compliance with the construction documents and applicable codes.

Ø Work with Mechanical contractors, General contractors, Architects, and Clients to solve site coordination issues and trouble shoot problems that arise during construction.

Experience & Qualifications

Ø Strong understanding of Construction in particular the installation and operation of mechanical systems, including: plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, air handlers, and fire protection. Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Ø A valid Trades license as Plumber, Pipe Fitter, HVAC or Refrigeration Technician with multifamily high-rise experience or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with 10 years experience in Construction Administration or Field Inspection services.

Ø Strong knowledge of current codes and standards related to the mechanical systems in high rise commercial and multi-family buildings.

Ø Candidates must be able to confidently review mechanical equipment submittals, identify installation deficiencies, generate non-conformance reports, and punch lists and respond to Site Queries (RFI’s)

Ø Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must as is experience with Microsoft Word and Bluebeam Revu, and Online Construction Management Software, including Fieldwire, Procore, Newforma and Autodesk Build.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $85,000.00-$95,000.00 per year

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

  • Mechanical Construction Administration: 10 years (preferred)
  • Mechanical QA/QC: 5 years (preferred)
