Department, Unit or Project Description:

The Biorepository and Bioanalysis Centre (BBC) is an enabling unit within the CLSA and includes oversight of all biospecimen related activities from collection to storage and analysis of them. The CLSA is a national longitudinal study that started in 2012 and is following Canadians aged 45 to 85 for 20 years. The data being collected will be used to examine aging and to better improve the health of Canadians. The primary responsibility for this position will be the maintenance and development of the Labware LIMS applications.



Job Summary:

Perform the entry, verification, analysis and reporting of data for one or more research projects under the direction of a Principal Investigator or project lead.



Accountabilities:

  • Use statistical software to enter, synthesize, analyze and interpret data.
  • Maintain pre-existing databases, data collection forms, error checking methods and related programs for collection, analysis and reporting of data.
  • Apply established research methodology to ensure all research material is handled in accordance with established protocols, policies and procedures.
  • Compile data reports required for the preparation of scientific papers and abstracts.
  • Conduct literature searches to support data for use in publications such as journal articles or papers.



Qualifications:

Education: Completed or currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary degree.


Experience:
Minimum of 6 months’ experience.



Assets:

  • Extensive experience with development and maintenance of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), preferably Labware LIMS.
  • Knowledgeable in statistical software and programming such as in R.
