Job Summary:

The Senior Business Analyst for Change and Innovation is responsible for providing strategic business analysis to both internal and external stakeholders. The key candidate will work closely with the business to gain in depth understanding of business strategy, processes, and services focusing on customer experience, accuracy and process improvement as well as performance reporting. In addition to working with Direct Energy’s Business Process Outsourcer, the candidate will work with internal stakeholders in Change and Innovation to help support strategic projects and initiatives that help drive best in class customer experiences. Reporting to the Change Manager, this role requires a strong acumen in performing data and trend analysis regarding overall portfolio performance and a passion for continuous improvement activities. The Senior Business Analyst will need to understand the bigger picture to determine how each project impacts another and the business as a whole.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Support change & innovation goals and objectives through business process improvements, stakeholder engagement/communications, identification, analysis, and mitigation strategies for organizational risk/issues/challenges
  • Utilize problem solving skills, including root cause analysis, in order to support the customer base and minimize any business impacts
  • Support initiatives to grow customer base/revenue growth and drive cost reduction strategies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business objectives/requirements, mitigating any technical challenges, in order to analyze business needs and validate criteria to support fit-for-purpose solutions, including any data/compliance issues
  • Ability to work collaboratively, in a time sensitive environment, in order to support priorities and ensure all delivery timelines are met with the highest level of quality
  • Work closely with business partners in order to understand level-of-effort regarding scope and complexity of all business requirements and provide gap analysis when needed
  • Track and measure all related KPI’s/Success metrics
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Working Conditions:


  • Combination of open office environment and working from home
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise
  • International travel may be required which will require a valid passport


Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience:
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Strong relationship management skills
    • Analyzing and developing business processes and participating in business process improvement efforts


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Commerce /Computer Science
  • Experience in electricity, natural gas, or utilities
  • Agile project delivery experience
  • Experience training/coaching in order to support Training Team
  • Testing experience (systems testing and/ or user acceptance testing)
  • IT Change Management/Change Management experience
  • Experience working with external and internal stakeholders


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with an ability to multitask and successfully operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Business Process Mapping capabilities
  • Experience with collaboration tools (e.g., Smartsheet, JIRA)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (intermediate Teams, Word and PowerPoint; advanced Excel)
  • SQL experience an asset
