I worked at Yahoo full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great pay and employee benefits. Beers on Friday afternoon. If you work weekday shifts lunch is provided. Most of the team very talented and a joy to work with. Management like to make sudden redundancies just before Christmas.

    Cons

Tech-bro culture with toxic managers allowed to run rampant— not as bad as a lot of Sydney newsrooms but still makes for very low morale among exhausted staff in content division. Very intense shifts with no breaks, everyone eats at their desks. Emotional burnout very common. Workforce becoming increasingly casualised in order to cut corners and exploit young (mostly female) content makers. Absolutely no work-life balance.
