I have been working at XMA full-time

    Pros

The Board have identified that after a period of growth and acquisition that they had some growing pains. This has led to big investment throughout the business. There is a new HR system and a huge focus around staff development and appraisals. Communication has also improved greatly both top down and between departments. In 2019 they held the first company wide Sales Kick Off which was overdue for a business of this...

    Cons

Took a long time to adapt to growth but this has been identified. As we're spread across multiple sites you are often working with other teams remotely, this can be challenging unless you invest a little time working with those teams to help build a working relationship.

    Advice to Management

I think a major step has been taken in the right direction, don't let the momentum fizzle out. Getting the different sites together periodically would help working relationships between teams and sites. The Sales Kick Off was a great example of this.

I have been working at XMA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Room to move up or swap jobs Nice atmosphere Relaxed mostly but some stresses like all jobs

    Cons

Internal processes are a joke Management in technical support is a mess and has no idea how to run a business Very sales driven Low amount of "benefits" most are legal requirements now but they don't change their approach Departments don't really help each other out but down to management team mostly

    Advice to Management

Sack your incompetent staff don't let them stay there for 10 years they are weighing on everyone's morale. Start hiring on skill and not how nice people are. And start offering more incentive to stay. It could be a good company to work for but now it's just average

I worked at XMA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * No weekend work (although you WILL be expected to manage an inbox receiving around 800 emails every day so kiss goodbye to your evenings if you want to keep your head above water; this being XMA's definition of being "flexible") * FREE water * FREE car park * At face value, a reasonable basic salary (£27k for Internal Account Manager's). Be wary though, to get anywhere near your monthly target (and commission)...

    Cons

    * Tantamount to zero communication between each department * No processes to follow * Convoluted order processing system (JBA) which isn't integrated with their CRM (quotes are prepared on basic Excel spreadsheets) * Outbound call KPI's to develop new business accounts and grow existing - fighting a losing battle. Spend two hours per day on the phone and you'll fall four hours behind with inbound emails or demanding...

    Advice to Management

    * Invest in your loyal people who can do the job and are your biggest asset * Cut middle management * Decide on a USP that doesn't rely on shifting 50,000 cheap and nasty Viglen units per year

I worked at XMA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

HR were amazing when going through some personal issues, which resulted in substantial leave. For that, thank you!

    Cons

Worked here for 5 years, no career progression whatsoever. The wages are criminal. There are no processes in place for anything, you just hope someone has done it before and will help. I had several meetings with management pointing out the areas which needed reviewing as it was causing on-going problems within my team, every single one ignored. You are not rewarded for your efforts. Our team desperately needed more...

I have been working at XMA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Colleagues have an open-minded, can-do attitude. The atmosphere is dynamic and friendly. People are very knowledgeable and happy to share that knowledge with you. There has been quite a lot done in the past year to engage with staff and have a proper dialogue at all levels.

    Cons

There's a need to improve some of the processes. To be quite honest, this is happening in some areas, and more is needed to be more agile as a company.

    Advice to Management

Keep engaging with staff and lead by example.
