I have been working at Wunderkind full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I'm surprised with all of these recent reviews as they don't seem to represent the company today. I've now been at Wunderkind (previously BounceX) for a handful of years and have been through some ups and downs, but it's still an incredible and unique place with amazing perks, the best people, and huge opportunities. I've grown both personally and professionally in ways you can't pay for. Even years in, I'm learning new things every day and am constantly challenged. There's two general trends I've noticed here: people and innovation. While the quarantine makes it a little harder to celebrate the employees, the entire office is designed around employee happiness. It's clearly built to be a comfortable environment with plenty of drinks, snacks, and events (both non-work and work related). Now in quarantine mode, we have "FriYay" half day Fridays and there's a consistent effort to plan zoom events that don't resolve around work (i.e. lunch pods with a lunch stipend). On the "innovation" side, the vision has always been pretty clear: we're building products/features that drive value for clients. This means there's never a dull day. The entire company seems to be aligned with pushing to improve both internally and externally. I can keep going, but I'll stop there.

    Cons

Most of the cons I have are more historical. Layoffs were hard. We lost some amazing people and it bumped up everyone's workload temporarily. Back in 2019 things were a little political with our CTO leaving, but our current CTO has been great over the last year and the general R&D sentiment is very positive. In some areas, like R&D, we operate more like a startup with a flat org and without a big layer of middle management. This can be hard sometimes, but I've noticed an effort to improve this.

I worked at Wunderkind full-time for more than a year

    Pros

If you read the other pro's from other reviews they are fairly accurate of the organization. They value culture, diversity, work/life balance, etc. The office is also truly amazing and people generally do like working with each other. Overall they've created an environment that is engaging and makes people want to come into the office (Pre-COVID). Often you will find people voluntarily hanging around "after hours" just getting to know people in the organization better. In general I've met a ton of amazing people here and there are generally some positives to working here. However...

    Cons

Where do I start? The cons more than outweigh any upside described above. This organization has become laughable and it blows my mind that the c-suite still thinks they have any handle on what is going on. Once the mass exodus of the original founding team left (COO, CFO, CCO, CTO's, multiple VP's, etc. - which is a story within itself) the organization was never able to bounce back and that is in large part due to the members of the founding team who are still there (i.e. CEO & whatever title the technical co-founder has now). The company is still severely overcharging for a product that has been commonplace in the market for quite some time now and why customers continue to buy their products truly does not make sense (given the price tag). However I'll stop here and offer the following summary of what leadership looks like underneath him: - Funneling any cash flow from the business into his personal bank account - Disgruntled employees who have zero say and therefore have all left - A new CTO - for the third time - who has never worked in Martech - 1 "new" product launch in the last 5 years that is destined to fail - Years of wasted time and accumulated tech debt spent on projects that the CEO shutdown in chase of something that he most likely thought of on his way to work that day - A new c-suite of non-technical employees making product roadmap decisions - A sales organization that sells products the company doesn't sell (although they do kill it - this is more a reflection of the communication issues within the organization) I could go on for paragraphs but I hope this gets the point across. PSA: To interviewees, investors, customers - stay away, far away. This place is a ticking time bomb ready to blow. Which is shame because it once had high expectations but now its just another company who's ego superseded its potential. Please do not let them fool you into thinking anything otherwise.

    I worked at Wunderkind full-time

    Pros

They take a real interest in professional development. You'll work with some super smart, wonderful humans. The people are probably the best asset. If you leverage the resources correctly and can navigate company politics, you'll flourish.

    Cons

They laid everyone off. Not much work/life balance. The tech requires an enormous amount of human touch and is prone to breaking. Office politics are rampant and the leadership talks a good talk but isnt very competant.

I have been working at Wunderkind full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Some of the people who work here are amazing. (But many of those intelligent and kind people are on their way out.) - The People team is phenomenal. - The diversity efforts are driven by impressive humans.

    Cons

    1) The CEO. 2) Under-qualified people in positions of power. 3) Narcissism (truly definitionally). 4) Absence of a clear (real) company goal 5) Little empowerment. It’s an interesting paradigm to be consistently belittled, occasionally verbally accosted, and to have to protect your boss’ ego on the regular. Don’t worry, I’m on my way out, too. But please consider this a fair warning. I am not a disgruntled employee who has done poorly. I’m educated, perform well, and also can speak my truth about how dysfunctional this place is. Take another offer or keep looking. These recent bad reviews are indicative of the current toxicity. Another discouraging and relevant factoid: the technology is redundant.

    I worked at Wunderkind full-time

    Pros

Overall there are some fantastic, talented people who work at BounceX. I made some amazing connections and will be forever grateful for them. Everyone was super motivated (not sure how it is now that COVID hit...) and you could tell they were passionate about their jobs.

    Cons

There's a five word minimum, so I'll write more than just The CEO... but overall the leadership team needed to be restructured and more seasoned. The entire team is under qualified and needs to be reconsidered in order for the company to truly scale. However, if they only had the opportunity to change one thing, I would suggest hiring an external, more successful CEO. If the current CEO took a step back and allowed for someone else to take the resigns, maybe the company wouldn't have gone through 4 CTOs by now. Just food for thought.

I worked at Wunderkind full-time for less than a year

    Pros

diversity is solid. Associate-level culture is amazing.

    Cons

Leadership has no idea what it's doing. The company somehow had the money to buy a giant golden dinosaur for its swanky lobby, and a self cleaning toilet, but had to lay off 25% of staff a month into COVID (while... they continued to hire new people...)

I worked at Wunderkind full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Like many other reviews have mentioned, their are some great people that work here. Even after departing their is still a strong group of alumni and current employees that keep in touch. The office, while completely over the top, is nice and has a gorgeous view of the city. You will notice many of the office perks you come to see these days (Snacks, Alcohol, Deli Meat, etc...) which is a plus.

    Cons

The CEO is one of the big ones and ultimately drives many of the challenges the company deals with on a day to day basis. From an executive team perspective their lacks any true consistency. The company, within a 2 year period has had 3 CTO's including a time period where the CEO was at one point the CTO. Somewhat even more alarmingly, the company has had a history of bringing in diverse executive leaders only to see them leave within a fairly short time period. Communication from the executive team to the rest of the company is severely lacking at times. When there is communication it is usually lacking full transparency leaving most folks in the dark. Full transparent communication is usually reserved for early members of the company/friends of the CEO that are placed within somewhat random mid management/director positions within the company. From an organizational perspective this makes it extremely challenging to have a proper organizational communication structure, ultimately driving a ton of office politics. Everything at this company is so ridiculously over the top. From the complete rebrand to the CEO literally naming the office Wunderland to the random golden dinosaur in the office to the alcohol infused late night Holiday Parties. I can only imagine the money put into many of these things that could have been used elsewhere.

I have been working at Wunderkind full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - So many pros, first being the incredible culture and team. This is the best, healthiest culture I've ever personally been a part of. From the people to the perks, free food/swag, environment, camaraderie (and so much more) it's a pleasure to work here every day. - My colleagues and I love coming to the office (and are sad that we can't be there due to all the COVID19 madness.) During normal operations, we occupy two floors in One World Trade with a stellar view, funky colors / textures / statues / conference room names. We even have one of the largest magic eyes in NYC on our ceiling. The office is called "Wunderland" and it is highly fitting. - Awesome ERGs (from women, LGBT, family support, black, latin, asian, disability -- incredibly supportive place, top down. - The company really feels like something that reflects us and also that we had a hand in creating. Can't wait for our official transition to Wunderkind. - Team leads and colleagues are genuinely kind and care about your wellbeing and professional development. This is really rare in my decade plus years of experience, especially in NYC.

    Cons

    - if i'm being super picky, the pay/bennies could be better across the board, but I feel that for what all that I'm getting with respect to culture, leadership, professional development opportunities, etc., it's worth it. I have never felt so happy in a workplace.
