    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Wood full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The local team has a broad pool of talent and very senior engineers with excellent mentorship and opportunities for advancement and who really care about your career development. Loyal clients and long-term projects provide stability and high utilization even during slower economic times (E&I group) High level ot autonomy and indepdence given to all staff with easy access to seniors for guidance. RRSP matching up to 7% available. "Core" extended health benefits are free. Strong dedication to safety of employees.

    Cons

Constant corporate re-orgs (although limited effect on day-to-day operations) since Wood acquisition of AMEC. Too much middle management - local management has essentially no power to do anything. Some folks are overworked and high utlization is a problem. Some groups of the company will readily layoff staff when utilization drops below 80%. Completely absent IT support (outsourced since Wood acquistion with incompetent service providers and staff). Corporate cutbacks over the past 5 years include: no bonuses, reduction of healthcare spending account, increasing benefit costs, caps on banked OT hours, cancelling internal gatherings/conferences. Compensation is controlled by non-transparent corporate policies which do not reflect strong performance of local group. Very difficult to work on "internal" projects due to different systems, policies, procedures, etc.

I have been working at Wood full-time

    Pros

Great Pay in my career field. Chances to do a variety of contract work

    Cons

Third name change in 10 years. Each one growing the company and making it harder to be heard when you are a simple number. Each merger brought less benefits and reduced vacation. In theory there is more opportunity, but its hard to move even within the company.
