I worked at Wolrige Mahon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Friendly team, most staff, managers and partners are very friendly. Lots of learning opportunities - wide range of clients. Regular meetings with mentors, you have a chance to shape your career at the firm.

    Cons

Standard public practice issues - work life balance can be difficult and busy season can drag. Hard to avoid in public practice.

I worked at Wolrige Mahon full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-You can get your CPA here..but unless you have no other options I wouldn't even stay for that

    Cons

    - Extremely toxic work environment..tons of bullying from managers who are underachievers with zero social or leadership skills. Only care about getting file out and not developing staff - Fake 5 star reviews from HR, don't know a single person who would honestly give this place 5 stars - Very low salaries compared to other public practice firms

I worked at Wolrige Mahon full-time

    Pros

You will learn everything from financial statement preparation, corporate tax, personal tax, and ASPE/IFRS. Wolrige Mahon gave me a solid foundation for my accounting career. I worked with some great managers at the time who are unfortunately no longer at the firm. I quite enjoyed my time at Wolrige and have made lasting friendships.

    Cons

    - Low retention but this is pretty standard across public practice. - Some clients are messy and can be difficult to work with.

I worked at Wolrige Mahon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There really isn't much of a pro. If I have to say something, I can say that the staff are quite nice.

    Cons

Imagine working for the dumbest people you can ever meet. cheap, slow, cocky management. HR partner should be institutionalized. He might be the shadiest character in the whole industry.

I have been working at Wolrige Mahon full-time

    Pros

    - Company culture revolves heavily around alcohol. If you drink enough then you might be able to momentarily forget that you are still employed here - There are a few helpful friendly managers (approximately three)

    Cons

    - The partners are a group of underachievers who lack leadership ability, direction, and common sense. For example, the following are public tweets from the Manager Partner accessible through a simple google search: "Cmon wardrobe malfunction #beyonce" 5:23 PM · Feb 3, 2013 "What's the deal with women dressing? #slow dressing women better than cross dressing women...." 7:37 PM · Feb 3, 2012 - HR is a two-faced, preoccupied with their personal life, and better suited for a role at a local Starbucks as opposed to an accounting firm - Particular managers enjoy acting tough in the bullpen and flirting with staff - Turnover is atrociously high - Very little support for CPA students

I worked at Wolrige Mahon full-time

    Pros

    - Decent parties and celebrations - Some managers are very nice - Not as busy as other firms during busy season - Paid OT

    Cons

    - Very beaurocratic - you will not get what you were promised - Poor tone at the top - partners don't care about anything other than their own jobs - When issues are brought up, management says they will address but nothing ever happens - No reward for those who perform well. What's the point of working hard if you get rewarded the same as everyone else? - Some managers are not very helpful and rather condescending. They like to play favourites

I worked at Wolrige Mahon full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work is unorganized, abysmal budgeting for files and incompetent management - which means you can slack and drive up the WIP Not hard to be the coolest kid on the block here - given that there are so few people here with personalities Good place if you are a keener/suckup because managers/partners love getting their large ego's stroked

    Cons

Friday drinks anybody? Bueller......Bueller.....Bueller? Yeah, no chance these people want to socialize with juniors/new staff. PP is known for low salaries, but WM especially as you become senior. All the good people have left to B4 or something better

I worked at Wolrige Mahon full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good variety of clients with lots of audit work. Gives you the ability to work on and review different types of accounting for different industries. Good training for junior staff. No pressure or requirements to bring in clients. Some partners very good at business development.

    Cons

    - The partners who are good at business development unfortunately will not be teaching you anything to help you with that skill. - One partner in particular is very rude and disrespectful. and just having to see them once in a while almost makes it not worth it working there. -HR is very fake and will tell you everything you want to hear, until it comes time to deliver on promises. - Culture is very poor and the best people have left the firm, including senior managers and some partners. -Long hours and very stressful environment for being a mid-size firm. Might as well work at B4 if you are going to endure that. - Manager group, the people you will learn from the most, are not the cream of the crop in terms of social interaction, teaching or mentorship skills. They are more file reviewers than managers. -Low pay, long hours -Too many managers and partners with shrinking client base, very little advancement opportunities for seniors and managers -Very little emphasis on becoming a well rounded accountant or advancing your career, only care about pumping out files and meeting deadlines.

    Pros

    - staff are great - work life balance decent - good range of files to work on

    Cons

    - culture of fear of asking questions - several poor managers - no training program - low salary - no emphasis on file efficiency/improvement. Just copy the prior year - very beaurocratic
