I have been working at Windstream full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Windstream is changing, and that's a good thing. You may read negative reviews on this site, but those are typically from people who struggle to embrace change, or are pessimistic by nature. I've been here for almost 15 years now, and while it hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows - I have been afforded opportunity after opportunity based on my performance, problem solving, and tenacity. Windstream has challenged me in...

    Cons

Sometimes with change comes the unfortunate need to eliminate certain positions. If I could change one aspect of the business, layoffs would be it . That being said, again on a positive note - I've often been afforded the opportunity to retain valuable employees on other positions vs needing to RIF an employee.

    Advice to Management

Keep leaning in, but work to be more transparent about RIFs and affected teams. Transparency builds confidence and trust, but it must be consistent. Additionally, be sure to give teams time to adjust. Often a new leader is introduced and a team is shifted to a new vertical right when they were starting to hit their stride. We don't need to re-imagine legacy teams every 6 months to a year. Additionally, the work from...

I have been working at Windstream full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Some departments and business units are gems, buried inside a mismanaged lumbering behemoth. Choose wisely. Hope that the gems get spun off.

    Cons

Self-serving unethical senior management, who pay themselves huge bonuses while driving the company under. Deliberately not paying vendors on time, for years, before and after filing for bankruptcy. Delusional belief that they can rebuild the entire company around a few favored small teams doing software development work while never fixing service delivery problems or recognizing other product development work in the...

I have been working at Windstream full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This company has the best training program I have ever experienced. It is detailed, pertainent, and on-going. The message here is also consistent and uniform amongst all I hear or come in contact with. Very customer and end user focused. It is all about the customer here. Flat org chart as everyone wants to help me with my large deals all the way up to the CEO. I find this refreshing.

    Cons

Recent Ch.11 restructuring will make it harder to sell but can be overcome. It is strictly a balance sheet issue and has allowed us to get $1 billion in additonal financing. We are cash flow positive and EBITDA positive.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. "Title drives opportunity" here.

I worked at Windstream full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Competitive pay and sales commission plan

    Cons

As a sales director, I spent too much time dealing with customer complaints and service delivery issues. Lack of investment in profitable ILEC markets poor decision. Acquisition of Earthlink was a joke now contributing to major losses. My stock has tanked which really indicates a poor financial outlook and imminent bankruptcy.

    Advice to Management

Tony Thomas and Gunderson have made very poor decisions that has propelled Windstream's demise. May be too late for a change. A house of cards.

I worked at Windstream full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Many dedicated hard working people between the CLEC mergers Windstream acquired. This was a best of the best talent pool by 2013-2014...

    Cons

Current CEO leadership is boarder line criminal. Talent pool systematically dismantled 2016 on. Move many top performing mid level leadersand and their families to markets, only to lay them and their staff off the next year.

    Advice to Management

Somehow Tony T has to be held accountable for the deterioration of a good company and the use of layoffs as his personal life support for keeping his job.
