I have been working at Willis Towers Watson full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People have great personalities and are bright.
Office is a very pleasant work environment.
People are always willing to help each other out, and they take their time to train.

    Cons

Sometimes long hours - depending on client work
The start can be slow if there is not enough time for training to happen from peers

I have been working at Willis Towers Watson full-time

    Pros

    - Global footprint / brand name
    - Because it is a large company, a lot of resources / info are readily available

    Cons

    - Not enough "return" for hard work (long hours and tedious work for no recognition / poor pay / no career development opportunities)
    - Very hard to deal with office politics (no chance to give upward feedback, but lots of "feedback" given downwards)
    - High turnover; many bright/hardworking people leaving the company because they can't see a viable future

    Advice to Management

    - Perhaps it's time to be critical and find out why turnover is high instead of giving the "easy" excuse ("they weren't the right fit"). There are many ambitious people out there who would probably stay if they knew their jobs could lead somewhere.

    Pros

Career development and advancement, research based consulting services, amazing colleagues, lots of learning and training opportunities, compensation package and flexibility.

    Cons

Highly competitive individuals not always willing to work as a team. Lots of people with strong egos. Balance work and family may be sometimes challenging.

    Advice to Management

Try to make sure the experience is similar in various offices and region. Not sure it is the case since the merger.

"TW is a challenging workplace with great clients and bright people; unfortunately "legacy cliques" still exist."

    Pros

Great research capabilities, a commitment to good work and exploring new ideas for top-tier clients makes TW an energizing and challenging place to build a career.

    Cons

Small circles of "insider" managers and "instant labelling" means you can get stuck with in a bow you don't want to be in - and it can be difficult to find a champion to help you get out and explore other opportunities. If you're not fast-tracked you might as well look externally.

    Advice to Management

As the actuarial needs of HR plans diminish, TW moves closer to management consulting. Time to broaden the appreciation of other skill sets and experience and see they all can provide value to TW objectives - admittedly some regions are much better at this than others.

    Pros

Opportunity to move between departments for learning experience. Most of the people are generally good people. Communication between the speciality groups, good sharing of information and resources are available. As well, many specialized agents and departments in specific areas. Hours of work are good and people are treated well in general

    Cons

The benefits are not anything to brag about. Holiday time is a little difficult to build up! Serious questions to management are often ignored and put to the side. Difficult place to jump into, as training is nearly non-existent for many. As such a little difficult to grow within the company and the industry.

    Advice to Management

A little more honesty and straight answers with your employees would go a long way.
