    I worked at Western Financial Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Wonderful people throughout the company. There is an amazing commitment to community through the Western Communities Foundation.

    Cons

    Upper management does not have an open door policy. People disappear without announcements. There is a underlying culture of fear of job loss if people speak up. Just smile and do as you're told.

    Branch staff are severely unsupported by internal departments and decisions are made based on corporate politics and individual clout than what's best for the customer.

    Advice to Management

    Take come accountability and stop blaming branch staff for all issues, make a commitment to change for the better.

    I have been working at Western Financial Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are good for a small town

    Cons

    Worst micromanagement. Upper management has no idea how employees in branches really feel because they only hear from their managers. No training although head office wants to believe they have the best training. Fairness is one of the key items they note in everything they do but doesn't apply at all to employees.

    Advice to Management

    Management doesn't want to hear from employees.

    Micro management, one solution for 160 offices, no assistance from upper management to lower management and on and on and on

    Advice to Management

    To upper management - take a class on managing

    Pros

    Interesting and challenging job, many good people, adequate benefits

    Cons

    Total focal is on numbers. Upper management completely out of touch and unapproachable. Lower management relies on bullying tactics.

    Advice to Management

    Get in touch with your employees. Drop the 'everyone is replaceable' philosophy and really try to engage your employees. They are the face of your company. Work with lower management to bring out the best in your employees rather than trying to slot them into pigeon holes. Focus on customer focus as that will bring in more business
