Hard work + bad work environment
May 16, 2023 - First Helper Production in Winnipeg, MBRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
It's decent for a short term employee because the first couple weeks they have to take things slow but after that you are on your own. Some people make careers out of it but everyone seems miserable/toxic if they do. You can move up the ranks fast especially if you are on everyones good side
Cons
After a couple of weeks, the pace will become relentless and reminiscent of a mechanically driven work style. The work environment is unhealthy in nature, with senior employees treating new recruits hostilely while refusing to assist them. If any issue arises, regardless of fault, the newcomers are to be blamed to obscure their superior's missteps because each day has an entirely calculated target. Despite their essentiality, the managers are not held in high regard, and they continuously exercise their control over their subordinates while accomplishing the least amount of actual work. The company operates by empowering bullies, and such behavior gets propagated to all employees. The organization's rank is corrupted due to the seniority principle, and regardless of their hard work, one can be terminated if a senior individual decides to look for a pretext during their probation period.

Pros
Running water, flush toilets for now. Free ear plugs.
Cons
TYRANNICAL RULE. The current management is undoubtedly the worst possible. The Regional and Plant Management, Human Resources and most of the Supervisors are fueled by greed. Production Employees are individually punished bullied and discriminated against for voicing concerns that are REAL issues but completely ignored by Management over and over again. I cannot believe this plant hasn't been in court over Human Rights violations yet. They work the employees like prisoners in a work camp and will make you suffer if you don't perform exceptionally with the broken and unrepaired outdated machinery that we are forced to use. It's a 3rd world plant in a multiBillion dollar company. It's an absolute disgrace. The quality of the materials is even worse. You have to be a magician to make anything turn out the way its supposed to. EVERYTHING comes down to MONEY in Management's pockets. Safety ?? Lol. WCB and Workplace Safety and Health should be all over this place. Please take my advice and stay away from this place. Find a job where you will be appreciated for your efforts and not penalized for not being able to give Management what they want. And discriminated against for speaking the truth as unpleasant as it may be for them to hear. And don't believe ANYTHING the HR person tells you if you ARE interviewed. Wait and speak to an actual production worker before accepting a job here. YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID. THIS PLACE IS TOXIC BEYOND BELIEF !!!!!!

Pros
Running water Flush toilets Free protection
Cons
Currently, it's probably one of the most toxic workplaces in Canada. Nevermind the broken machinery. Back breaking labor. Extreme heat. Tyrannical rule and unethical behavior from management. I could go on and on

Pros
Some ot available during the holidays. Always something to work on. Benefits/pension available.
Cons
No recognition for hard work or going above and beyond. Management repeatedly felt it was okay to put hands on employees. Harassment is not dealt with in a way that results in employees feeling safe at work. Verbal and sexual harassment very common. Management does not perform employee performance reviews on time - you will be waiting months for your raise.
