Pros
Partnership card means discount in Waitrose and John Lewis plus some restaurants and other shops. Good holiday. Uniform. The bonus which helps soften the blow of receiving a poor wage. I work with a great team! 😊
Cons
Lack of personal development and career opportunities -even as a very experienced professional and graduate. Poor wage -under £7. Appraisal system oppresses any good pay rise or personal development. Employs large number of young (minors) students looking for pocket money leaving most times of the day short staffed. Dedicated older staff are left picking up the pieces and working longer hours to cover busy times of the day. High turnover of management. Poor leadership. Poor, inconsistent training. Inconsistent disciplinary procedures. My Waitrose card allows customers a free coffee everyday but only allows partners a free coffee on the days they dont work!!!

Pros
- Met some lovely people - Low-stress job - Small workload compared to similar jobs elsewhere - Great student job (flexible overtime)
Cons
- Messy management - People leaders prefer to not follow correct business procedures to avoid paperwork - Low pay, with higher wages offered promotionally to new starters - Poor staff retention leads to inefficient use of time spent training - The 'partnership' is fictitious and you are not treated as equal unless you belong to the higher ranks of the company - In the three years I spent at Waitrose, I was bag-searched once. No one else was subject to this during my time at the company. - Unauthorised allocation of holiday hours with no ability to book off more than three days in one block. - Very unfriendly environment for female employees (my close friend was repeatedly made to feel sexualised in the workplace) by older male employees.
