      Pros

Cool people usually Easy work if you don't get into it too much Slightly less scummy feeling than working for a megacorp Feels good to see bunch of people get access to a hospital based on your work

      Cons

Will never give you a raise, ever Will lie about why you won't get a raise Will not help you develop your skills professionally Will pay political allies speaking fees of over 200k while claiming theres no budget for cost of living raises (that's ~100 employees worth of 1.5% raises, by the way) Huge ego from senior staff and owners, to the point of being unable to take criticism Cult-like obsession with their values, which they promptly forget about if one of the big donors needs something Agreeing with leadership is more important than trying to do your job correctly

Pros and Cons of Working at WE

      Aug 21, 2020 - Manager

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - amazing growth opportunities (due to the younger demographic of employees, high turnover, and mentality of learning as you grow, it could take you just a 2-5 years to go from coordinator to manager to associate director, whereas in other corporate settings, this could take close to a decade - diversity of work experience: depending on your area of interests, it is quite easy to take on tasks and trainings in most business-related fields - unparalleled networking opportunities - with coworkers, management, and high-touch stakeholders (political, entertainment, corporate, charitable, etc)

      Cons

      - compensation - like any non-profit, you're only making about half what you'd make if you were working in the private or public sector - with an overall younger demographic of employees, most people in management positions aren't as experienced as those you'd find in other professional settings; work politics, friendships, and a generally more millennial work culture sometimes interfere with decisions and work that require more unbiased professional thinking/conduct

      Pros

Working with kids and seeing their passion to help others build. The impact was incredibly fulfilling.

      Cons

Executive management knows the work is fulfilling and staff will take pay cuts, miserably hard work, and poor treatment to continue doing the work.
