I have been working at WDS full-time

    Pros

WDS has a good office environment, and is a great place to come and learn how to write software in a truly agile environment. Developers are encouraged to take charge of their own destiny and get to work on exciting projects. Developers have good autonomy and get to choose technologies.

    Cons

Benefits are average, and career progression is a bit vague, and difficult if you aren't prepared to line manage. There are no long term benefits like stock options, and every pay review seems to be a case of arguing your case rather than being rewarded. The start-up vibe has been eroded by some bureaucracy from Xerox, and we aren't as enlightened as we like to tell everyone we are. The communication from senior management is very poor.

    Pros

Ability to move fast, friendly atmosphere, open and encouraging generally. Great opportunities.

    Cons

Inflexible IT processes. HR are getting better, but there's still some big gaps that need to be filled. Very poor communication overall throughout the company.

I have been working at WDS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company operate call centers. The bad reviews here seem to be related to the call center side where turnover is high. Development here is different. It's a well supported team of professionals working with Agile.

    Cons

Holiday time is very low for professionals. Salaries are low when compared to London , but about right for the area.

I have been working at WDS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Software development using cutting edge machine learning and natural language processing. Customer experience focused product base. Using agile methods like Extreme Programming and Kanban, which are understood and backed by the whole company. Encouraged to never work outside 9-5:30 hours. Opportunities to move within the business to other departments and role. Working with world-class research experts from Xerox PARC and Xerox Research in Europe.

    Cons

Dynamic Customer Experience business has traditionally been tightly coupled to the old call-centre business. This has led to inappropriate benefits and compensation for engineering jobs. This is starting to change now, as Xerox take over the call-centre business. Flat hierarchy can mean that it's difficult to progress within your area of expertise, without becoming a line manager.
