Culture of Inclusivity; Company is Growing and Evolving
Apr 26, 2023 - Talent AcquisitionRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Verisk is filled with humble people that genuinely care about their team members as both professionals and individuals. Whether you work in Underwriting Solutions or Claims Solutions, in the offices in Jersey City, Lehi, or Boston (or even remotely), the culture is positive and you can bring your whole self to work here.
Cons
Verisk has experienced lots of changes recently. In 2022 alone, a new CEO was appointed and Verisk sold 3 business units to refocus on the insurance industry. I personally view these changes as positive: new products, innovative solutions, and clearer career paths available to employees are examples of positive changes. But change itself can be uncomfortable.

Pros
WFH for field sales, reasonable travel, direct manager is supportive and strong solutions for clients.
Cons
Not a sales focused company. Award trip is generally a three day trip to a US resort, maybe PR or the Bahamas. Variable compensation now has caps and golden handcuffs limiting top performers income. They are trying to force top performers to stay by deferring comp for a year or more once you hit a threshold they deem too high. Personally was not impacted but heard directly from several people they won't get their full payout for 12 months or longer. Work/life balance has diminished significantly in the last year. Emails and calls on the weekend and after hours used to be rare but have become common. Working a 10 hour day is the norm now. The workload of administrative, sales ops, finance and other areas seem even worse. The turnover in those positions is high and will soon impact our abikity to serve our customers; a lot of good people have left because they are expected to take on the additional workload with little to no recognition for their efforts. Cost of living has increased significantly this year; look at prices of any grocery item! For sales, raises were less than 1% for most of the people I know which is a slap in the face especially when you combine it with the changes to commission plan. Again, seems back office has it even worse as they are losing lots of folks and it was just announced they will need to be in the HQ office a minimum of two days a week which has not been well received.

Great company that invests time and resources into their employees.
Apr 28, 2023 - Technical Support Engineer in Lehi, UTRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have worked for many companies that seemed to only care about paying the little guy as little as possible so the guy at the top gets rich. Xactware/Verisk is not one of them. They go above and beyond to create a culture that is fitting for everyone and they treat all of their employees with a level of respect that is above the rest. I was let go for poor attendance, but I would go back in a heart beat. JB
Cons
They do tend to flood you with an overwhelming amount of information when first starting, but they very understanding and provide the resources necessary to succeed. Everyone struggles at first, but that's one reason why their support team is so great.

Easy going environment Transparent work hierarchy People on High levels are very easily accessible for casual & friendly conversations
Cons
Being a US based company, they are expanding slowly to India. Hence not all HR Policies or Processes are well defined. When asked for, the teams are very supportive but we need to check & follow up on ourselves as things are new here.

Bad management good people
Mar 16, 2023 - Technical Lead in Jersey City, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Friendly staff and developer community. Uses latest tech. Stack hence room to update your skill sets. Decent health care options.
Cons
To grow in this org, you will have to constantly agree to your manager and just be his puppet. There are few good manager but you need to be lucky to work under them. This org like people working late night and whole night but they won’t value smart talent. They will hire new talent and pay double the salary then paid to existing similar level staff. There is no concept of salary revision as per the market, they will simply stick to their 2% max increment.
