I have been working at University of Rochester Medical Center full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay, great benefits, great atmosphere of teamwork and concern for patient care. This is a delightful place to work on the whole.

    Cons

The things you'd experience anywhere. The occasional difficult coworker, shift work, weekend work. Nothing really specific to the university that I would complain about.

I have been working at University of Rochester Medical Center

    Pros

Great benefits, manager was great, hours were Monday through Friday very steady. Room for growth and improvement

    Cons

Salary / pay was not the best and to get any increases without being in union is very hard. Only 2% every year.

I have been working at University of Rochester Medical Center full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Decent pay, great benefits....always have work to do, it's one job to the next, usually multiple jobs at once have to be balanced which is good if you like a challenge.

    Cons

You literally have to know someone to get in. Mega corporate, although they play the "non-profit card" to its fullest extent. Very bureaucratic, tons of red tape just to get simple tasks completed; you need 15 signatures to order a pair of scissors for a job. Obviously you have to work around people who are constantly sick, it is a hospital, so be prepared mentally and emotionally. Lack of diversity in certain departments. Constantly hiring friends, family, and former employees that they already know. If you do make it, welcome to the "Good ole boys" club....very clicky almost like high school. It's hard to positively challenge or question superiors without repercussions; military-like chain of command style management. Difficult to get promoted due to nepotism.

    Pros

Great teaching hospital. Friendly atmosphere. Great benefits- vacation, medical, tuition reimbursement. Overtime usually available. Department tries to boost moral- team building excersises, fun food activities.
