I have been working at University College London full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Potential for collaborations with experts in the field; open culture; initiatives towards diversity; continuing education

    Cons

I have worked there for 3 years and still have not received/signed a contract that is correct. I had to beg to get the correct salary (although coming from a fellowship) and was paid late fees all in the same tax year, meaning I paid much more taxes on this salary than I should have. Unhelpful HR from my contacts but supportive PI and Head of Department.

I have been working at University College London full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

UCL in general provides proper training opportunities and funding for conferences. Supervision team matters for your growth. My supervisors are quite experienced, responsible and pragmatic in research, and I really enjoy studying and working with them.

    Cons

International students are charged 4 times the tuition fees as the EU students.
Teaching opportunities and payments vary among institutes. Some institutes can have very little teaching opportunities.

    Advice to Management

The management teams in my institute and my department are quite professional.
