I worked at University College London full-time

    Pros

Top global university, city of culture, right in the centre of town

    Cons

    Expensive, expensive, expensive.
Tough to get academic career progression.

    Advice to Management

With respect to PhD students - more infrastructure to help students complete their thesis, not just to start it.

I worked at University College London full-time

    Pros

Career advancement, many opportunities to attend training and courses, lots of annual leave & Uni closure days off

    Cons

    Quite disorganised, frequently short staffed

    Advice to Management

Improve HR processes that slow down recruitment of new staff so new hires are in place to receive a handover from outgoing staff

I have been working at University College London full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've been working as a research associate for just over a year and have loved my time at UCL. The access I have has a biomedical researcher to the many world class hospitals as well as research facilities is remarkable. I get to work with people from all around the world and is an incredibly intellectually stimulating environment. My colleagues are hardworking professionals and the bosses are very approachable and supportive. I also get the perks of being in central London.

    Cons

The UCL admin can be quite slow at times so you may need to consistently nag them to push things to go through. As the university is scattered a bit throughout a major city, your division/department may feel like a small part of a big machine - though to be fair, the different UCL campuses are well situated and possibly more united geographically than other big city universities.

    Advice to Management

If you could invest in more efficient workflow through the admin team, the rest of the staff would be very grateful. Thanks.

    Pros

the uni is so large and offers a wide range of activities and resources.

    Cons

because of a large number of the student, there is less tailored teaching to your needs, which is really bad.

I worked at University College London full-time

    Pros

Loved my experience at UCL! The learning environment and resources were great and support continues even after graduation. There was a very personal feel to my study at UCL with lots of contact with lecturers and professors. There are many short courses and societies available to meet lots of new people.

    Cons

Careers advice is not the best
