I worked at Trion Worlds full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Interesting games. Flexible work hours with possibilities to work from home. Truly felt like upper management cared for you and would listen to you if you spoke up. Crunch times were avoided and rare. Layoffs were avoided as much as possible. People were passionate and very knowledgeable there. Open communication within the company, everybody could express opinions about anything or any game and be heard.

    Cons

Nonexistent middle management. Low possibilities for promotions, raises, and bonuses. Stocks always felt worthless and were in the end. Hard to tell the direction and status of the company.

I have been working at Trion Worlds full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are some very talented and pleasant people working there. You get free drinks in the lunch room Salary was generous and the benefits were pretty good.

    Cons

Senior management doesn't know what they're doing. Constantly changing goals and priorities, with lots of turnover in middle and upper management. Cramped working conditions with many people doubled up in tiny offices.

    Trion Worlds Response

    August 27, 2014HR Generalist

Hi there! You know, you make some good points and we agree. Trion San Diego shut it’s doors over a year ago due to some of the things you mention above. But, you know what, we’re a new place now, a better place, and we learned from what happened there. Thanks for your input, we’re always keen to hear how bad things were because they remind us just how far we've come since then.

I have been working at Trion Worlds full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

New CEO has his head on straight and is managing the company into profitability and more success. Great work environment, smart crew of folks.

    Cons

Previous CEO and upper management horribly mismanaged company and wracked up well over 100 million in debt, then cashed and and left us swinging with layoffs and over 2 years of pay freeze.

I worked at Trion Worlds full-time

    Pros

Middle management was good but had to deal with execs that managed up.

    Cons

Lack of executive leadership in the right direction. Not focused on training and developing employees. Hired a lot of "friends" into upper management positions.

I have been working at Trion Worlds full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Trion is composed of some really good & and experienced people. And after some hardships and bumps in the road we have some upper management (Specifically the CEO) that is actually keeping tabs on things and trying to follow some responsible spending...unlike previously. Trion doesn't force or pressure people into overworking (slaving). There is a good balance and understanding that people have lives and responsibilities outside of their job at Trion.

    Cons

Because of some of the hardships, and because the area is so $!@#$ing expensive, some essential benefits have been cut which makes living anywhere within an hours drive of work difficult. Not only have I witnessed people leaving to work in more affordable areas, but it has also effected hiring and people's willingness to move out to such an expensive area.
