I have been working at TravelCenters of America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are almost always hours available, if you are willing to train across departments. If you like to change up jobs frequently, transferring between departments is generally fairly easy. Benefits are good.

    Cons

There are few opportunities to advance from within, the company generally hires from outside without consulting current employees about interest in the position. Almost every department is always understaffed. Pay varies GREATLY by department. The department I was hired into hired at minimum wage. I later transferred to another department, and the lowest paying position (Dishwasher) was making what I made as a Shift Lead. There is little regard for those with medical requirements. I have been frequently asked to work outside of my comfort zone as a disabled worker and requests for conditions that I was hired in with an understanding of receiving were ignored. My hired in agreed upon schedule was quickly ignored, attempts to work with management to change back to my orginal schedule were ignored.

I have been working at TravelCenters of America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Cons

Sometimes work load is extreme but teams come together to help.

  7. "Good pay great PTO"

    2.0
Former Employee - Autonomous Vehicle Operator in Cleveland, OH

I worked at TravelCenters of America full-time

    Pros

3 weeks PTO is available for all employee the moment they are hired. Pay is great. You can work from home as a road squad agent or if u work directly for their HR department. Job is easy.

    Cons

Poor floor management, (many of them extreme micro manage). They have no attendance flexibility. They offer 3 weeks total of PTO but make it real hard to claim. None of the unused PTO is ever paid out & it doesn’t roll over to the next year either. Some managers are great bullies. One of them was reported to upper management but they did nothing about it. Very stressful job due to all the pressure they place on all employees to be impecable & perfect. If you are bilingual, they won’t pay you more for that ability but are quick to come get you when they have a customers or drivers they are having a hard time understanding due to language barriers. I at first I helped with no hesitation & then stoped when I realized I was being used.

I have been working at TravelCenters of America full-time for less than a year

    Pros

•T.A. Pays for A.S.E. & HVT/LVT, they will reimburse you, if you pay out of pocket. •Scheduling, they will work out a plan for scheduling shifts, but you have to pull over-night 3months out of the year, each year, since we are 24/7 shop. • You get hourly which is $12, as well as commission pay for T2 Tech it's 29.5%, you have to make $1,245 each week. You make more then that, you will get extra money from each work order. You have to do $250 per day (5 -6 Work Orders) in-order to meet that goal. •Employees in the shop will help you with everything, if some of the Master Techs like you, they'll give you some training material that they have, i.e. Wheel Seals, Wheel Ends, 3 and 1 for Trailers, etc. To help you get better. • Depending on the shop you will ether get Mac Tools or Snap On Offical Dealers to come to the shop twice a week.

    Cons

•For me it was the benefits, they don't price match 401k, they match up to 4%. (You put $200.00 in, they match it with 4% which is $8.00) Other then that, the shop I work at, I enjoy. Have had no issues with Management, or other Techs.
