I worked at Toyota Boshoku full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Time passes a little quicker when you drive a tugger or forklift. Most team members within your department are friendly and look out for their own. Money is decent

    Cons

There's alot of favouritism when it comes to where the manpower gets divided, the favourites get to drive forklifts all day while the overlooked team members are selected to do the back breaking jobs for both halfs of the shift. Team members from other departments expect you to always clean up their mess and rarely lend a hand to you. The PC department is very busy and it is easy to fall behind.

I have been working at Toyota Boshoku full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Secure employment, plenty of OT throughout the year. Great place to work between high school and post-secondary to save money for tuition. Good benefits coverage and health insurance, dental etc. Incentive bonuses for contributing to safety and quality. Partial reimbursement for purchases towards personal wellness/fitness.

    Cons

Unpredictable end of shift times, could be an 8 hour shift or up to 10 hours. Rotating shifts make work/life balance very difficult especially for staff with children/families. OT is mandatory; some weeks you only have 1 day off. Quarterly attendance bonuses encourage you to come into work even when you are feeling sick. Only 6 sick days per year; unpaid. Forced to use vacation days to cover hours of work lost during annual shutdown. Huge disconnect between management and reality on shop floor; poor communication & lack of understanding, decisions are made from the top which aren't in best interest of team members. No defined process for promotion into management; promotions happen behind closed doors. Unless you befriend certain members of management, you're unlikely to see promotion beyond a team leader. Toxic work culture which promotes the idea that using your sick days makes you a bad employee.
